My 2016 hunt for actives

Habitat: Where does it grow? Eg. woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Eg. soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?), etc.
Wood Chips
Gills: Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc. Light brown / tan
Stem: Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc. about 3 inches, maybe 1/4 inch, light tan not staining blue, stem seems hollow.
Cap: Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc. caps range in size dry , light brown , kind of wavy
Spore print color:
I did not spore print these because I was fairly certain they are not active but did not take any home.
Very important!
Bruising: Color that the mushroom bruises, if any. none
Other information: Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.

I have been hunting the Newark/Fremont area. This is about the only large notable sample i have found on woodchips for the season out here. It kind of seems dry on the ground for the most part. This particular sample was from a Newark Park.
I recently made a trip to Shinn Park which seems like a cool area. Has anyone else been here? I lived in this area for a majority of my life and passed by this area on the way to niles canyon before heading to the valley or sonora without ever really wondering what is in there. Anyways on my exploration of the area I saw some stinkhorns well i believe they are stinkhorns and did not really attempt to touch them or place my nose near them for fear of getting a smell on me I couldnt get off haha. I did smell some off smelling trash smell while searching near them. I have some pictures of this stuff as well but wasnt sure if it was the right place to post.
I have seen quite a few grass growing mushrooms out here none active maybe some edible. I hit up some business parks by automall a particularly new one that didnt seem to serve me much love. I have a hard time identifying plants inside of garden beds etc sometimes what i think is lupines seems really thin.
I have also visited Joaquin Miller with my brother and girlfriend for the first time ever and didnt even get to scratch the surface of it. brother and gf not much of hikers or trail walkers. Joaquin miller was beautiful though and I didnt even care that i didnt really even find mushrooms I was happy to just walk around kind of read some of the stuff about the area and see some interesting things like the old stone altar. I wish I was able to explore more of the area but will probably just go alone sometimes easier that way.
I also visited Tilden Park and went to the Native botanical garden in hopes to talk to some people about identifying plants and stuff but I think it was just the wrong time to head over there. Anyways there were lots of signs in front of a majority of the plants there which was essentially what I was looking for anyways. Its a pretty large area with lots of information around. Some interesting stories about how some trees ended up there, as well as some gnomes. I think this is a great place for anyone who wants to become more familiar with several plant species in a hands on kind of way. This was my first time to Tilden park as well. I enjoyed the experience and hope to explore there a little later.
Lots of information Thanks for the ID ahead of time and sorry I did not take a spore print, next time i will suck it up and take a sample or two home. Is it acceptable to post pictures of places i believe would have samples in efforts to maybe weed out some bad ideas?
Sincerely,
Cataclyzm

Not at all. I just know Agrocybe putaminum can be pretty tasty cooked in some tacos.

That sounds fairly appetizing as I eat tacos pretty often being the mexican I am! Although you probably would not guess mexican by looking at me. I am interested to try these. How would you describe the taste and did you use the mushrooms as the meat of the taco or as a condiment?

Definitely the meat of the taco. They aren't a well known edible since they were recently introduced to North America. Many Agrocybe species aren't considered good to eat and are difficult to identify. However the strongly farinaceous cucumber taste / odor with these goes away after cooking and they become fairly good while the grooved stem without any veil is rather distinctive for an Agrocybe species.

I will probably pick some samples tomorrow to try for a meal. Thanks for the suggestions I will take some pictures of my tacos before ingestion and post here. Do you have any other advice in preparing samples to eat like washing them in a specific way? I saw another species that possibly seemed edible but was unsure. What do you think? I found in the same park but in grass.

The horse mushroom is edible i believe. http://www.first-nature.com/fungi/agaricus-arvensis.php If only it were a true cross between a fly agaric and cubenis )
I did not go back to that park today though. I sort of had ADD of where i wanted to look today and was sort of sketched out when hunting lawns today. I always get the paranoid feeling i appear to be casing a place to rob or something. i did find more specimens although skipped over some cool ones i saw while lawn searching.
Species one

Species two

Did not take a spore print on these ones as well.
Its not as dry as i thought out here for specimens jus the wrong guys :X

1. Agaricus species, details like bruising / smell / geographic location would be needed to work out the specifics.
2. One of the coprinoid mushrooms. (ink caps). Maybe someone else can narrow it down further for you. Its somewhere in the mess that is Coprinus / Coprinopsis / Coprinellus / Parasola.
3. Suillus pungens
4. Compare them with Tricholoma fracticum
Cool finds, thanks for sharing.
