Whats an unmodified tub. Seems like a good way to lift it out and then dunk.

i consider TC status broken until bodhi has it
broken, just like the responsive design (aka "mobile site"), and the anti xrumer measures

So another question. New box! Cut hole first, after sub and spawn mixed or after colonisation?

Im using a mini mono and wondered what people do when they have a new box.
Im using pasty's hybrid box.
The only reason I ask is that you dont really need the holes till its colonised

Guys,
I've never used a monotub liner. I'm reviving this old thread to learn the current thinking about liners.
I've read that the primary reasons for using a liner are to minimize side-pinning and to make it easier to remove the substrate.
Some guys say that liners help to prevent contamination. Some guys say that liners can cause contamination.
I haven't had a significant problem with side-pinning. So, other than making it easier to remove the substrate, are there other compelling reasons to use a liner?
And is a regular Hefty garbage bag sufficient?
What is the current consensus about using liners?
Thanks,
Tom

I have done this with modified tubs too following your technique. Just put duct tape over any holes first
Oh didn't realise this was such an old thread. I'm no expert but trying to perfect my technique without a liner, just seems unnecessary. Still get a few side pins though but Im led to believe thats because surface conditions aren't optimal
