Thought about that but I like the idea of having the water feed directly into the center of the colony instead of being drawn from the bottom. Also, less chance of interfering with any bottom pins that pop up. I may do a side by side comparison once I have a decent clone specimen ready.

It sure is! Super impressed with the results. Thanks, I know everyone was slacking hard on the picture updates!!
This was agar>LC>KC This thing just wouldn't stop pinning!!! Currently have two others with very nice pinsets as well and another two sitting in jars consolidating/waiting for SGFC real estate

Keep the pictures coming man. For some reason I want to make "cakes" for old times sake. I very much want to make Kramer cakes vs PF.
For anyone reading, Kramer cakes use WBS instead of PF Tek, and IMO look to be the "future" of cakes. How was the yield on that one cake man?

I used a similar concept. Whole grain cakes instead of PF. colonized faster and stronger from what I could tell. My pf mix all contammed before I could fruit them so I don't know what kind of yield difference it would have been

Didn't grab a wet weight but I'll PM you a dry weight and update my post in the Kramer Cakes thread if your interested. My scale doesn't weigh anything over 100g it's a PITA.
Dude I would definitely try it out. Was a pretty neat experience. I probably wont fuck with cakes much after this. Gunna gift my SGFC to a friend and stick with monos

I'm not proud of this one... This is my second attempt at growing and out of 8 tubs I spawned this is the only one that didn't go completely to shit with mold(cobweb trich).
I attempted making bags by only soaking and then PC grains without doing a simmer. I assumed as long as I could get the moisture content right that I wouldn't have issues with bacteria.... seems I was wrong, and I'll now be simmering before PC.
Anyways... I've gone though a lot of grain and finally have something to show for it. Should get a couple oz.
What do you guys think about the genetics of these? They look a bit odd compared to average. They are of a clone of AA+ that some how picked up a pigment gene
Also I'm noticing some little white tufts on the caps of some of them, looks like mycelium growing on the caps? What's that all about?

I was going to post some pictures of the mycellium i have growing in jars but I found something very odd and somewhat sinister looking. It almost looks like the cake was broken through from the inside out, is this infection, some weird pinning, or something else entirely? Send help. Thanks in advance!

I could never get decent prints when dealing with tampanesis. Your caps look great tho, they will prob print beautifully. Send me some close ups of the caps in my DMs bro.. if ya' don't mind.

the easiest way for me to get tamp spores was to just let them sit in a pasty plate long enough until they sporulated then swab them up off the walls of the plate. the caps in my tubs would never open or sporulate but the conditions in pastys seem to be just right for fruiting tamps.

They always semi-opened for me. Same with ATL#7. Maybe my conditions weren't ideal.. Idk..
 (Atl#7 left, Tampanesis right)
If they opened they were too tiny to print.

Same happens to me man.
Now they dont even open sometimes, they just grow to a certain size and start shrivelling up and become bruised, then turn black, which is weird, i think its some type of contaminant, maybe some type of vert, cus it becomes slimy.
