I wasn't even looking... (Gymnopilus I.d. Request)

I took a nature "trip" today. I rarely take nature trips anymore due to court and shitty life circumstances. I've been hunting mushrooms for almost 4 or 5 years now and never have I ever once found an active Gymnopilus. I was so ecstatic to find this mushroom I nearly cried...
Just finding this has put me in the best mood I have been in in a very long time. I was so thankful to the mushroom gods to finally gift me with a Gymnopilus. Just imagine, you're taking a normal hike, tripping, and you stumble upon the very mushroom you have been looking for for over 4 years. Finally!
Habitat: Growing off a fallen down tree in my most frequented favorite forest. Very clean forest in South West Ohio. Chappelle's Show
Gills: Orange
Stem: Very, very, thick and fibery. Hollow. Surprised at how hard it was.
Cap: See pics.
Spore print color: Rust brown
Bruising: Blue in spots, greenish in parts, brown for the majority.
Other information: Very strong sweet smell. But still had that psychedelic like scent.

Thanks. Do you know if drying them is appropriate?

I usually make tea and freeze it until rdy. You'll most likely need more for any effect for instance I use about 2lbs of material wet per gallon of water. Usually good for 2 good rides between two people or 4 solo.

I found my first Gym the other day too. My first active find actually. Incredibly, it was in the middle of a block in Washington DC! People were walking by totally unaware. Makes me feel like quite the Shaman . The Universe will answer your call. I like this quote from the Rumi: "What you seek, is seeking you". It's the law of attraction. Now I'll just wait until May and apply the same principle to Ovoids. Remember everything at one time was ONE. You are connected quantumly to everything that exists. Peace. .

Awesome, gives me hope that maybe, just maybe there's still incentive to hit the woods this late in the season!

I really want to find some Gyms. I thought I remembered reading that they fruit very late into the season?

You will want ten to 15 dry gr per dose or 150+ wet gr. they are very mild. Mellow. Very unique and fun. Find next yr they flush after big rains multiple times a yr. Spring summer fall. Find younger yet mature ones to sample. Old big ones don't have much per weight. Happy gyming

I'm going to revive this to let you know that they were outstanding. Extremely potent. Split that single mushroom into 4 water bottles of tea that I later froze. Had 2 water bottles and had a solid level 2. These may have been old and big but, man were they potent.

Awesome, pretty amazing you were able to trip from such a small amount. My luteus patches were very weak this year although my Junionius patch was supercharged.

Interesting man glad you tried them plus seemed to enjoy. Did you note a different "feel" to the experience? Plz also share details on how you brewed plus froze and stored tea. Questions in my mind wondering if other compounds became more active over time. GymOn

I always thought my BLG's giant size diminished overall potency. I have had "weak" luteus from spots that otherwise were known to be potent or benchmark. I attribute most potency loss due to bugs and environmental stressors plus air Eating near ANY psychoactive fungi fresh is always best. Fresh luteus are intense if you can stomach the FRESH bitter taste. I love gyms even though they taste horrid lol a funny thought

I noticed significantly more naseau. I've never gotten dizzy from mushrooms it was strange. I had a very relaxed trip. Less heady than cubensis. But the visuals were very wavy.
