Need help Identifying Mushroom
    #2376664 - 02/25/04 06:04 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

I am pretty sure this isn't what I was looking for, but want to see if anyone knows what it is. It was found in Naples, Florida.

First off, if you really want an accurate ID, you need to follow the instructions in the sticky thread at the top of the forum.

The cracks on the top of the caps in your photo indicate that they have a cellular cuticle, and they also show a dark spore print. They are most likely Psathyrellas, close to Psathyrella condolleana. This species is common and grows from wood, which might be buried and not obvious.

Without a lot more information, that ID should be considered very tentative and inaccurate.

Happy mushrooming!

No way to tell, we don't have any details. Could be one of hundreds of different mushrooms.

I'm sorry im not to familiar with the forum yet where is the sticky thread?, I don't think it is the right kind of shroom because it didn't stain blue, but I really would like to identify it.

Those are panaeolus campanulatus. No fringed teeth. I hace collected and dried thse befor so i am sure of their ID. The caps dry similar in appearance to panaeolus subbalteatus.

They are not psychoactive.

mj

While some Pn. Antillarum get a light metalic look in their caps to a light silvery-copper, they do not turn copper brown in drying. And the stems in those imaes are a brown stem and Panaeolus antillarum does not have brow-reddish stems as seen in the above pictures.

Here is a photo to show you
