Watering Perlite instead of cakes (PF TEK)

Hey all, i think i am going to try an experiment. When watering, im no longer going to mist anywhere. Instead, Im just going to put fresh new water evenly across all of the perlite in the SG terrarium to get that super moist again for higher humidity. Im still gonna dunk at birth and after flushes for 20 - 24 hours, just no misting of cakes or terrarium.
Since misting causes pins to abort more, i figure just find a way to drop misting out completely.
I've noticed that I can add like 2 cups of water daily to the perlite without it having to seap under the holes at the bottom of the terrarium. I simply just dump the water in from a water bottle evenly everywhere quickly. I figure adding water daily to the perlite will keep the humidity better for shrooms.
Im on day 3 with this so far and everything is looking good. So has anyone else tried this, or do you think this will not work, and why?

I just sprayed my perlite and hand raked every couple days...the reason I hand raked the perilite was to keep it from compacting into bottom holes in sgfc

Lol, misting dosen't cause aborts. Evaporation off the surface of the cake is the major pinning trigger.

haha nothing funnier than a noob opening a thread about experimenting, and thats coming from a noob
Now for realsies misting does not cause aborts (except for panaeolus sp), and evaporation from the cakes surface is a major pinning trigger so youre bound to reduce your yield that way.
Now follow the damn tek and dont experiment until you have some experience.

Constantly misting the perlite isn't going to do a thing except keep the humidity level matched with the surface of your cakes. You can't have evaporation at the surface of the cake if the moisture level in the air is the same as the surface.
I guarantee you have pins form on your cakes where the overspray from your perlite experiment hit the cake.

Just stick with what is tried and true.. As said above, misting pins will not cause aborts.. UNLESS you mist and have a lack of FAE.. As long as your FC is doing it's job you will be fine.. Misting pins and then leaving them wet in stagnant, non moving air WILL cause aborts..
