Pasteurized Sub Shelf Life

So I follow one of Frank Horrigans teks where he soaks a brick of coir, adds verm and gypsum and then pasteurizes it on the stove, thing is, my mono tub is very small and I don't do mushrooms frequently so I would rather just keep with the small tub. However the bottom holes in my tub are filled up to the 9-10 qt mark, and Franks tek makes 9-11 quarts of bulk substrate. After pasteurization, can these jars of perfectly hydrated substrate be kept for any amount of time, or is my only option to 2 two mono tubs/cut a brick of coir in half. How easy is it to cut a brick of coir, I feel you would need a chain saw. I appologize for such a noob question, haven't grown since 2013 and I miss it a lot.
This was my first and only mono tub and I did it at a 1:2 ratio of grain spawn to bulk sub. I feel like I must have had to throw some of the rest of the coir/verm/gypsum mix away.
Also my first flush was full of weird mutants. Really weird mutants. Stuff like this

Then the next flush had completely normal looking mushrooms. People told me it was because because my substrate was too nutritious? any truth to that? Going to make prepare some agar plates tomorrow and see if any of my spores from 3 years ago will still germinate. Unless the mutation thing is genetics, in which case I'll get new spores.

I know coir and verm and gypsum are cheap just don't like waste. I got 3 bricks of coir for under $10.

Pasteurized materials will not last for very long. Usually under a week, assuming it can even go that long without smelling like an outhouse (bacterial growth=smell). I usually do a modified bucket tek, where I dump straw/coir/verm mix into a 5 gal bucket, then fill it with boiling water, add some rocks to keep everything submerged, and then close the lid and wrap in a blanket. It will stay hot-ish for about 24 hours, at which point you drain it and spawn right away.
One time I let a bucket sit for an extra three days because I was busy. When I opened the lid, I decided that spawning was gonna become a scheduling priority from that moment on. I also had to kill the bucket and everything in it with fire.
On the other hand, sterilized materials will last forever. At least, my sterilized tester jar (first thing I ran in my PC) has been clean for over a year and a half now.

Pretty much agree with Kryptos. 1) No you can't save pasteurized substrate. 2) Try using a handsaw to cut a brick of coir in half. Or just, like, get a bigger monotub if that's an option.

Might be time to go big. I just like small tubs because if anything goes wrong it's just one tub. Also my family is lenient but not that lenient. I think I might just get 2 more tubs. Then if I make 20 L of bulk sub, and each can hold 9 L about max, then I have a 1:2.5 spawn ratio approx. Which maybe isn't so bad. Still not sure what the best ratio is, now why my first flush was mutants and the rest were fine. Must've got like 6-8 dry ounces off that little tub.

I do 1:2 - 1:3 ratio. I don't know that there's a proven "best" ratio. It sort of depends on your situation.

I have spawned pasteurized sub as long as about a week after pasteurization before with success. I think I read a long time ago that a proper pasteurization will hold off contams for about 2 weeks, but that could be old outdated info.

I agree with this. Though it's always smart to use your sub up as soon as it's been prepared, I've pasteurized large amounts before then had to seal them and use them over the course of a week or two. Its all in the smell, always give your sub a whiff before using. If something smell off about it, dump it in the garden and pastuerize some more.

Also, if you're new and your posts contain the words: Humidifer, incubator, air-stone, or heater, then you need to read and UTFSE before asking people to review your setup. OR... You should be cultivating reptiles and fish, not mushrooms.

I have heard that coir is a bit more resistant to going bad than other bulk subs. Like I probably wouldn't want to keep hydrated horse shit around for a week
edit: my newest spore prints are 14 months old, my oldest are 3-4 years. I've read people saying they will likely still work, others saying that is too long. I'm going to try my luck and see. They were stored in a cool, dry, dark place but not a fridge.
