Just snapped a quick picture as I was walking my dog by the patch. Should I get more pictures or is it safe to say that this is not a PS cyan

Could be a cyan. Did you print it?

Definitely looks to be one but I'd not commit myself without a view of the underside and stipe.
Like many mushrooms, Psilocybe cyanescens are hygrophanous, meaning that they will fade drastically in color and become more opaque as they dry out beyond a certain threshold.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

I actually tossed it. I'll take prints from the questionable ones. but dude. there are so many here. As a person who knows what they are, I feel like Im obligated to remove them. There's like a quarter pound right next to the sidewalk in my neighborhood. I'm providing a public service damnit. If someone's dog just rolled around in that spot they would probably go into a catatonic state. Dude. so many. Is that common or did I likely happen to find someone's poorly placed personal patch? There's probably around 500-1000 in an 8 square foot zone.
Any one have a guess as to how many times it will flush?

Co?onies of that size and vigor are not the norm but are not rare. They indicate an ideal site in terms of moisture, nutrients and as often as not a young colony.
