Just found this one last night: http://oldnewrockmusic.blogspot.com/
It is a few year old blog of vinyl FLAC/ MP3 rips, they have a ton of great stuff some of which I had been searching for
Downloading stuff is a pain though, each album has a turbobit link that lets you download a compressed copy of the album. If you don't have a TurboBit account (like me) you can only do one download ever hour or so which is annoying. But its worth it for the high quality vinyl rips I got 2 albums last night and started my first one today a bit earlier.
Archive.org They have an amazing live music archive where you can download FLAC's or MP3's of tons of live music.
Here is a collection of live FLAC's: etree.org
Etree isn't loading right now for me but I have used them in the past to get some quality live shows.

I meant for downloading honestly, I like streaming but much prefer having all my favorite stuff in a collection, preferably in FLAC format.

I have never been huge on pandora mainly becouse of the adds and randomness, I am too picky to put up with that for long
Youtube is my go to for discovering new music as I can just surf related artists by genre, I have a huge collection of MP3's downloaded off their.
FLAC's are the way to go though if you have the space. Lossy formats can be alright but over time the quality degrades due to being compressed.

yah, i hate ads too, but they are helpful when recording audio since it gives u a gap in between songs without having to pause Pandora.
Same with Youtube, the ad in front of the song helps with recording for me, and its not WAV quality but its good enough for me!

I have ad block on firefox so the only time I see adds is when I am forced to disable it to view certain pages or when I go on youtube on my phone
I see how adds could help with editing audio possibly but I just look for song gaps.
I actually have been converting FLAC's to WAV's to upload to youtube for awhile now I love the audio quality. Just realized WAV's are lossless today.

it's not free but I've been using a particular site for close to 5 years now. It's usually around $1.60 an album or .10 a song. They have all the newest albums and anything else you ever listened to in a lifetime- unless it's rare.

It can be hard to find a reliable place to download certain stuff, there is a lot of obscure prog rock along with Metal.
The first site I posted has a decent amount of old metal, I only dug through pages for a bit but there was a lot of classic rock and metal.

I just uploaded an album I was super stoked to find FLACs of:
Eloy - Ocean 2 The Answer full album HQ
Sounds really good IMO, sadly it is just from a CD but the sound quality is still pretty solid. Pretty far out psychedelic prog rock
