Thank you all who view this tread, and thank you all who reply to this thread as well.
Ok so as the title asks......How many bags (1-lbs per bag) of Substrate will I need for a tray that is 3.5" deep X 19.5" long X 11.56" wide.

I am setting up a 4 shelf GH with 2 trays on each shelf, for a total of 8 trays. I am thinking that 2lbs of sub per tray? And the same as well for my casing as well..
Just asking as I know a lot of you have much more experience than my self.

Pretty sure mycelium reacts badly with those aluminum trays.. And the amount of substrate you need all depends on what your spawn:substrate ratio is going to be..

I generally use 2 lbs of CVG to 2 qrts of spawn in similar trays. Sometimes if it's too much, depending on the size of the tray, I'll forgo the aluminum tray completely and opt for a much deeper shoebox and use even more spawn.
Also mycelium will be fine in those trays, it'll just dissolve aluminum after awhile.

Also, if you're new and your posts contain the words: Humidifer, incubator, air-stone, or heater, then you need to read and UTFSE before asking people to review your setup. OR... You should be cultivating reptiles and fish, not mushrooms.

Hmmm interesting. I will do more research on that.

But with that conversation side-bared and assuming aluminum is ok.......

Yea mycelium will try to eat the trays. Just use a plastic liner, then when the substrate shrinks the liner will shrink with it.
Two birds one stone
