Chemical motivation

Don't we often use caffeine and energy drinks to try to overcome our resistance to doing certain things?

So often we say, "I need my coffee to get going in the morning."

I suspect we don't want "energy" as much as we want motivation to overcome resistance.

well people also get into ruts from habitual caffeine use, where they're so used to the stimulation in the morning that without it they are more tired than they'd otherwise be. I used to drink coffee every day and found that it indeed would increase productivity, but often itself cause the drop in energy of my base state, necessitating the coffee to rise out of it. since quitting coffee, I find I have no problem in the mornings and am seldom ever tired

I notice many people drink caffeine when relaxing on vacation.

Why would we want "more energy" while sitting on the beach?

Like you say, habit. And the desire to pack in as much enjoyment as possible.

Vacations can be stressful because we feel we need to have a lot of fun!!!

My mom drinks coffee "To relax".

Really weird. She drinks it before bed too.

I prefer methamphetamine for that really relaxed moment.

I prefer micro-dosing LSD or psilocybin for my chemical motivation.
I don't really drink any coffee either, maybe once every month or so.

people on a beach sometimes read..and therefore coffee can give intellectual stimulation..and therefore a bit of a brow around the reading table..just to suit your fancy..
