Just a caution about trying to use google pics to identify.

OK so I just wanted to post this for all the new comers, please do not rely solely on google search pics for positive id on mushrooms you find. I have noticed google will throw in pic's of deadly mushrooms labeled as non deadly or just have the wrong picture up all together. I am fairly new to this and almost made the mistake of eating poisenoius mushrooms because google was showing these mushrooms as gyms. Thank God I wasn't happy with the answer google gave me and kept looking. Finally I found out what they were, they are a deadly specieces that will destroy your kidneys if eaten. They lead to a long drawn out death. This just shows you can not count on google alone to identify shrooms. These pictures were put together with laughing gyms and was presented by google as the same mushroom. So to all new hunters like myself, please be carful and search better sources. Don't rely on google for I'd matching. Be safe and always get a second opinion.

Good tip but those look like Chroogomphus, pretty sure they aren't deadly (but they're not gyms, that's for sure)
What species do you think they are?

I will try to find the link that I found them on that finally gave me the positive Id. This might help. The mushrooms were a brown color. They had a button poking up in the center of the cap. The cap itself was was kinda wavey, the gills stretched up the mushroom like chantrells do. The mushroom had a yellow to orangeish red stem like gyms have. The mushrooms bruised blue, purple, pinkish, and redish. I found them after a day of googleing and the site that had the picture of them said they were toxic and told a story of how one guy that ate them needed a kidney transplant and had he not had a son who volunteered to donate his Kidney, the guy would have died. I'll try to find the post and pics. Anyhow I was just glad I didn't listen to googles suggestions when I did my first search.
These are all the pics I have left of those.

I believe them to be webcaps. Fools webcaps. I'm about 97% sure that's what I had. They matched perfectly, even had the buttons on top, stem color, and known bruising colors. I'd bet my ass on it.

I was thinking Chroogomphus too, from the general appearance.

Going by pictures alone isn't enough to identify mushrooms. And of course, Google isn't a great mushroom identification tool, either.
If, however, you're going to use the 'net to compare pictures to your own finds, there are some helpful resources:
California:

US and world:

North East US/Eastern Canada:

British Columbia/PNW:

France/Central and South Europe:

UK/Northern Europe:

Sweden/Scandinavia:
http://www.stridvall.se/fungi/gallery/Agarics_and_Boleti
Norway/Scandinavia:

And yeah, your mushrooms are Chroogomphus sp., what I'd call C. rutilus.
