Habitat: Growing on moss, under a very large old oak tree
Gills: Embedded into the moss, White with a velvet texture
Stem: More than one foot wide, with a heavy body
Cap: White with a type of fibonacci extension of the caps, dense
Spore print color: N/A
Bruising: N/A
Other information: Someone tried to steal this from my property without even asking! I'm curious what this is based on the fact that it grows here every year and now people are coming to the door asking if they can take the shrooms out! (wtf!)

I'm not sure. Maybe an extremely faded Laetiporus, but by the time they get that white, they're usually crumbling.
But this is the best description of a cap that I've ever read

They've probably mistaken it for a Grifola frondosa aka Hen of the woods, which grows at the base of oak trees. It looks like a black staining polypore/Berkleys polypore.

Thanks guys. You are enlightening me on these edibles. It does look like a Berkley's polypore indeed. Perhaps a stew is in order.

How valuable are Hen of the Woods?
I've got a nice one growing on my property and found a tree with several big ones around it. I'm out of work and scrapping metal and selling shit on flee bay so a buck is a buck to this quacking duck...

Not much because they are easily cultivated en masse

The most valuable edibles are hard/impossible to cultivate which is what drives the pricing
