Do you know those diet "before" pictures?

This is mine. I had leg ulcers all summer and right now i'm on low dose anabolic steroids to help the wound healing. It works like magic. Winstrol (Stanozolol), if you wonder. I have them for 2 weeks more and I gained some extra pounds due to gains in bone density, muscle mass and upgrading of all my tissues. Its a wonder drug for me. I expect to gain some more fat free mass but at the start of november to start eating sensibly, swimming religiously to add exercize to calorie restriction.
I expect to weigh as much as 164kg/360lbs. A pound for every day of year. Look at me, at my living room door, a picture taken the day before yesterday in the Bird's Eye View of my beloved 2 meter tall friend who makes even me seem small.
Look at me. Proud like a Sumotori, standing tall in determination. High on MXE. I'm going to beat the odds and lose the weight. Eat healthier and less of it, while exercising well.
Please wish me luck, say your prayers work your magic, your juju, your voodoo for me.
I'm going to win this one.

You're awesome asante. I know you can do it.
One of the best things I did for my diet was buying a good blender and making a fruit/veggie shake every day when I wake up. Some kale, a carrot, a few strawberries, a kiwi, and a orange. If you stick with it everyday it'll help a lot. You can put all kinds of stuff in them too whatever you can think of really.
It makes getting good stuff into your body quick and easy and taste great as long as you don't add too much kale. I also much prefer blending to juicing. You miss out on the fiber with juicing which is really important.

Yeah, its possible. You just have to have a good support group, that's key. If you have people around you that are always shoving shit food in your face, or telling you to just "eat it this one time, it wont hurt" then you're going to continue to fail. Once the weight starts to come off you will feel great about yourself, and you find it's easier to continue with your goals.
Some pics for inspiration.

I dont think loosing weight would make Asante look any better either. He's got that well defined samoan thing going on and doesnt look that bad without a shirt on. I dont do it for looks, its to get more mobility. I am lugging three 25kg bumper disks of fat with me, dropping two would be ideal as I'd have far better walkinh distance and less stress on the joints.

Diet AND exercise bro!
Ser small goals, try and reach them in steps, and try to make healthy living a lifestyle, not a chore
You can, just like anybody else, be healthy and enjoy it at the same time
Just gotta break bad habits and develop good ones
Make your exercise enjoyable and switch it up so you don't get bored by the same old routine
Good luck man, yer a good dude, I'm also trying to get into better shape so I can climb trees (my job) more efficiently and so I'm not killin my body and joints while working

You have my word on that comrade
One thing to consider is the new VR headsets that can run VR games of things like boxing or sword fighting .
With those you actually physically do the movements to play.
Then all you need to do is play fun games and burn calories !
Might make it more fun and more fun = easier to make a daily habit!
If you play a boxing game every day on your headset you will absolutely begin shedding pounds .
The Nintendo Wii and things like dance Dance Revolution as well.

Well sounds perfect then. You want to spend your online time more productively, what I am suggesting is using some of it exercising in virtual reality .
Just one path though, by no means the only way to your goal.
Have you ever researched ketogenic diets?
Some people report major weight loss from going on them, in addition to many other benefits.

So cute
Have you considered plyometrics and calisthenics? In simple terms, exercise that only involves using your own body weight and you can make it as easy or as hard as you want (for example, doing pushups on your knees or a full pushup with one hand) Builds endurance, stamina, speed, flexibility, power and strength. It's also low impact, great for someone bigger who is just starting.
In terms of nutrition, I am pretty much just living on nuts (almonds, brazils, cashews), seeds (hemp, flax, sunflower, pumpkin, sesame) fresh fruit + veg, some rice, meat and fish and a few other foods (mushrooms, seaweed, coconuts, etc) Best I've ever felt

It isn't (ketosis being healthy that is). Diet fads don't lead to long term results. You have mentioned in the past that you have a high pain tolerance, use that to your advantage. Dieting and cutting weight fast is being hungry, simple as that. You're going to lose a ton of weight initially and as your body adjusts the weight will come off much slower.

Alternatively have you tried a veggie smoothie diet?
Some people with extreme weight loss goals (aiming to lose 100 pounds or more) have had great success with eating only smoothies made of healthy raw vegetables blended up, with a few additions like a protein powder (hemp protein) and maybe some fruits, yogurt etc.
It's a simple way to ensure you lose weight quickly while getting a nutrient rich diet.

A lady I know makes the most wonderful soups that consist almost completely of pureed vegetables, they are stupendousoly delicious and of course super healthy.
Thats one thing i have agfainst ketogenic diets, I prefer to eat vegetables by the pound but you can't with those diets.
I LOVE veggies.

Me too!
Those soups sound delicious.
My understanding of the ketogenic diet is unlimited vegetables, healthy proteins and healthy fats. The only restriction is on sugar and carbs, no restrictions on veggies at all.

Thats one thing i have agfainst ketogenic diets, I prefer to eat vegetables by the pound but you can't with those diets.
I LOVE veggies.
I don't believe in diets or fad diets. People expect an easy, quick way to deal with being overweight. It adds even more stress and anxiety to someone who already feels trapped. Diets are almost never a lifestyle, they are temporary. People go on diets to drop the fat then they almost IMMEDIATELY go back to their old habits and gain everything back. That is extremely popular in the UK It's good you already like healthy food so stick with what you know and enjoy, instead of torturing yourself with unnecessary (i.e. not having some soup.... not the same as having a pizza) restrictions.
I believe it's as "easy" as eating very, very clean and working damn hard. You don't need to over-complicate it

You say "I don't believe in diets" and then you say "It's as easy as eating very very clean".
But eating very clean IS a diet- and a demanding one at that.
Having a proper diet is essential to health and weight loss. So people who say they don't believe in diets aren't being coherent- that's like saying you don't believe in exercise.
Both diet and exercise are indispensable.

Eating very very clean is a lifestyle, not a diet. A diet is almost always a temporary dietary regime. i.e. "Oh wow, I am going on holiday in 6 months. I better go on a diet during this time to get thin" then "That holiday was great! Time to munch down this large pizza, bottle of coke and never exercise again!". These diets are almost never viable and functional in the long term due to many reasons. But it does seem the meanings of those words are clashing with our different cultures. Diet also has several meanings:
Quote:
the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats.
Quote:
a special course of food to which a person restricts themselves, either to lose weight or for medical reasons. restrict oneself to small amounts or special kinds of food in order to lose weight.
-------------------- Pain is temporary. It may last for a minute or an hour or a day or even a year but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it will last forever.

Eating clean is a diet, which is itself part of a lifestyle.
Diet refers to the food choices you make. It is a permanent, ongoing thing.
We all have to make food choices every day. We all follow a diet whether we like it or not.
To improve our health we must improve our diet.
To maintain those health improvements we must maintain our healthy diet.
Obviously if we stop following the healthy diet and return to the unhealthy one the benefits will be lost.
This only proves that following a healthy diet and keeping to it on a long term permanent basis is essential.
Diet does not mean or imply some short term temporary thing.
It refers to the food choices we make , by definition we follow a diet as long as we live as we make food choices every day.
Eating clean is a diet, not a lifestyle, because eating clean is only a small part of an overall healthy lifestyle that must include exercise, proper sleep, positive thinking, healthy relationships etc.
Eating clean (healthy diet) is only one part of an overall healthy lifestyle.
Saying you don't believe in diet makes no more sense than saying you don't believe in exercise. Both are indispensable parts of a healthy lifestyle.
The fact that the benefits of a diet go away if you stop following the diet simply shows you need to continue your diet permanently.
The benefits of exercise also go away when you stop exercising.
That is why proper diet and proper exercise must be permanent parts of a life long healthy lifestyle.
Saying you don't believe in diets is meaningless - everyone has a diet because everyone eats.
What matters is eating properly , and eating properly means following a healthy diet.
Nothing could be more counterproductive to someone trying to lose weight than "not believing in diets " because proper diet is half of what will allow the person to accomplish their weight loss goals.
Everyone has a diet, the key is having a healthy one and keeping to it.
We both agree that a diet that you only follow for a short time will obviously not have permanent benefits.
With diet and exercise the benefits begin being lost as soon as the discipline of healthy eating or healthy exercise is abandoned.
This shows that consistency in diet and exercise are essential.
Yes a short term diet will have only short term benefits.
This means that a proper diet is a permanent one, not a short term one.

Typical unnecessary exaggerated Moonshoe rant. I just explained to you we quite clearly have different definitions of a "diet" and why the word "diet" is often abused and misused nowadays. I'll say again: "When people go on diets, it is almost always temporary and used when people are trying to set goals within a limited period of time. Once (and if) the goal is reached, these people then usually completely forget about the diet and go back to a bad lifestyle; no exercise and bad nutrition". I've already explained the reasons why "diets" are often bad ideas several times already.
In general, I also prefer calling it "good nutrition" instead of "diet". Good nutrition is a part of a healthy lifestyle (amongst all the all stuff you mentioned in that rant).
If you still don't understand what I'm trying to explain, let's agree to disagree, shall we?

When people go on diets it is often temporary. The benefits are therefore also temporary. Therefore, in order to obtain permanent benefits , stick to the diet permanently.
Daily exercise and daily healthy diet maintained consistently lifelong is the only way to obtain and maintain lifelong good health.
We aren't disagreeing. We both recognize that healthy eating is essential and we both know that healthy eating must be maintained lifelong if the benefits are to be permanent.
