Theres places here that will sell to you without a card and its completely out in the open, like business front downtown out in the open. Cops wont bust them as long as they look like a legit business. I just want some extra security when it comes to potential legal proceedings.

I know you're joking, but the other day I encountered a 28 year old Canadian who had never heard of it. Kinda blew my mind, and I got to wondering if you guys mostly stick to Canadian movies or what. I mean, that makes sense. I do watch a lot more foreign films than many people I know, but I still might not know the most popular Canadian movie of the 1930s. But Hollywood is something of a global juggernaut, so I think American movies have a lot of visibility in every country.

ha no they're just weird. The only time I watch canadian movies is in film studies courses, the only time I watch canadian tv is never. Most of the people I know consistently joke about how bad our movies and tv are too, i mean there's some good art films but it all just tries too hard to be canadian, and by that I mean inoffensive and mild

Not knowing Wizard of Oz seems a little unusual. Hollywood and US tv is fairly common here, but seem to recall Canadian channels having a particular quota of Canadian content that has to be met. It was a bigger deal when my house only had an antenna that got one 'local' channel while the neighbours had a pirate card for their satellite that picked up all the US channels.
Cannot actually think of anything on my movie rack that was Canadian made aside from Bon Cop Bad Cop, which was more something that I picked up out of interest while living in Québec.

Alternatively, we are apparently too busy chasing rolling cheese for fun.

Getting legal coverage is a bit of a toss-up depending on which province you live in. It is more difficult to find a doctor in Alberta/Saskatchewan/Manitoba than Ontario or BC -- not sure about the East Coast, and personally travelled to Ontario to get my first card while living in Québec. It is possible with doctor shopping though; alternatively, if you have those compassion clubs in your city they may be able to provide you with the name of a local doctor who prescribes, but it is a little spotty.
There are apparently still places in BC that will register you with a licensed producer if you are willing and able to fly out there. They used to do it simply by faxing them your medical record and having a Skype appointment, but that has apparently been canned and it is only possible by physically traveling to the clinics now.

Yeah I thought I remembered that. I forget if I mentioned then but I saw a talk he gave at a university here, pretty cool.
IIRC the "Cube" movies were Canadian productions.
Some Canadian TV can be decent too. The original Degrassi series were corny but pretty good. "The Odyssey" was another show I remember being pretty good, about this kid in a coma who dreams this post-apocalyptic world. "Read all about it" was another cool show, an educational show on reading with some pretty dark sci-fi elements for a kids' show.
A bunch of American TV is shot here, sometimes with many Canadian actors playing the bit parts (as on the X Files). Around my area a few years ago I saw filming stuff set up for "Alphas" and "Warehouse 13".

Dude, that first Cube movie is incredible. The acting leaves something to be desired, but the story is amazing. It's like a whole parallel to what living on Earth is like. I did not realize that it's a Canadian film. The dudes who made Cube also made this excellent comedy that tackles equally philosophic/existential material, it's called 'Nothing'. I guess Canada makes some awesome movies sometimes.

No, the Wachowski siblings made that movie what it was. Keanu was wooden. I always felt that if he hadnt been killed years earlier, Brandon Lee could have been the Neo that film deserved.

Unrelated to Canada but I'm reminded of this dark British sci-fi anthology series called "Black Mirror" I found on Netflix last night, gets into some brainfucky stuff. They only have the season 2 Christmas special on Canadian Netflix though. At first I couldn't figure out why, but after torrenting the first season I get it now. The first episode is about someone kidnapping a member of the royal family and then demanding that the British PM fuck a pig on live TV. That particular episode didn't really have sci-fi elements, but most of the other ones do. A lot of it relates to the dark side of social media and related tech.

Yeah it really exposes the dark side of the way things are currently. Having a hard time finding the second season, I used to use kickass torrents but now there just seem to be a bunch of different mirror sites that won't let you get the torrents without registering. Also they seem to sketchily invent a fake result when they don't find anything.

ha I actually had to look up his acting because I never heard of him. He would've ruined the movie. He gets this goofy wild eyed look whenever he has to do action scenes, which would've totally destroyed the stoney zen master thing keanu had going on. I think you might be letting nostalgia influence you on this.

Canada's image of snowy tundra, and retarded mild mannered pedophiles is kind of like an old and whithered catchers mitt that's been in an alleyway behind a dumpster too long and has feces contained therein.

you don't live cloistered enough with us by our great lakes, nor far enough up north into territories of sharp winds. you are not truly receiving the Canadian charm of surviving the winter...without that, you've got nothing. you can't be Canadian if you can't tell everyone how cold you can be and deal, or how you like trees and shit.

We are actually one large, fairly dispersed trailer park. It's like a big hippie commune made out of kittens, hockey, weed, and ice cubes.

Trailer Park Boys is missing:
trees nature winter cold snow survival warmth
it has the rural self-deprecation of the Canadian life of podunk simpletons though. so that's Canadian as fuck...but it's missing all the other stuff.

Letterkenny is pretty funny, but yeah that's about it. Did you ever watch the Drunk and On Drugs Happy Fun Time Hour? It's by the guys who make the trailer park boys but the plot is that their manager keeps feeding them hallucinogenic berries and they get all fucked up. Weird show. Worth watching while frying.

So I've tried both...the Lemon Skunk smelled very lemony, the UK Cheese was rather spicy. Both had flavours that really came through! The lemon skunk was pretty good (24.5% THC) but the Cheese was amazing (28.5%)!

A couple years ago we were hit pretty hard with ice storms in the winter. Literally a foot of ice covered the ground including the streets. I had to clear the parkinglot/entrance of the place I worked at and used a pick axe and a maul. Winters here are generally not too bad but we can get some crazy storms or amounts of snow. One year it we had about 8 feet of snow within 48 hours, that was nuts.

Kids in the Hall is pretty good for Canadian surreal comedy. For anyone not familiar, the miniseries "Death Comes To Town" from a few years ago is probably a pretty good intro.
