How have psychedelics affected your life
    #23754382 - 10/20/16 09:57 AM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Making this post so that some people can share how psychedelic use has affected your life beneficially or negatively.  How they made you view the world post experience.  Or various other ways that psychedelics have reflected on your life.

For me, I am eternally grateful that the world led me to the path of psychedelics as the have proven to make life much more valuable to me and to some extent impacted my personality and outlook on life for only the better.  Psychedelics have improved my outlook on life and made it more valuable in a sense.  I have a greater and deeper appreciation for life after having intense ego death and experiencing what i believe to be what death is like.  It made me see that maybe not everything we see with our own eyes is actually how it is, and that behind the curtain there are a lot of other things going on that makes the world work the way it does.  Psychedelics have affected my personality by making me much more easy going I'd say, Im always told how chill I am; and i believe that psychedelics have definitely had an impact on this.  Ive become less focused on materialistic things, and more appreciative of the little things in life such as family, relationships, and life experiences.  Psychedelics have given me an even more deeper appreciation for my fiancee.  And made me see just how special having someone close to you that you can relate with on a deep emotional and spiritual level.  As far as negatives would go, I'd have to say that theres just that constant desire to explore deeper into my consciousness, which honestly i wouldn't say is a negative thing at all.  Overall, Id say that psychedelics have been extremely beneficial to me, they made life all that much more valuable and made me that much more appreciative for life.

Psychedelics taught me how to balance my thoughts and emotions, it gave me an impartiality to life that grants a greater appreciation for all the shortcomings as much as the benefits I gain. It has allowed me to think, to love, and to cherish the moment. It taught me how to truly evaluate my feelings for things and how to make sense of the best actions to take in regard to them. It helps with my depression, it makes me feel more alive. Most of all though it has put me in touch with spiritual aspects of myself I feel I never would have discovered otherwise, and for this I am most grateful because I feel calmness when it comes to the great mystery. I am here for life, yet always present for my passing. Psychedelics changed my life.

Beautiful :..)  I took can relate when you say that they put you in touch with spiritual aspects of your life that you never thought you would discover.  Its almost as though they opened a door that showed you the other side.  And the fact that you can take that and incorporate that into your everyday life is a beautiful thing!

The doors of perception

shrooms taught me a lot about universal love and love for others
mescalin taught me how to dance and have a lovely time and to be more empathetic
acid taught me how to focus on what is truly important and that as humans we have no clue what the fuck we are doing, in a good way

I believe LSD along with LSA have given me a different outlook on things in life which has really helped with my ADHD. I dont have any experience with other traditional teachers other than Salvia. Lysergamides have helped a lot though.

they've made me nauseous a bunch

in all seriousness the usual stuff, more open minded, more aware of my emotions, of my environment and emotions affecting my thoughts and actions, more accepting of abstract art and conceptual art, less disdainful of conceptions of god or immaterial beings, at the same time they lead me to place more value on philosophy, logic, and rational argument as well as education and a historical understanding, probably more accepting of death too

I too have become more grateful of nature through psychedelic use but in addition the experience of 'ego death' has led me to find interests in the origin of conscience.

Through doing so I've come to the belief that conscience originated through temporary relative paralysis catalyzed by the anxiolytic properties of psilocin.

Thats an interesting theory but what about peoples who didn't use psilocybin? also, psilocybin is far from the only agent which can induce "temporary relative paralysis" what makes you think it is the culprit?

Psilocybin is only one example of an entheogen and there are entheogens used historically throughout the world.

Temporary relative paralysis is the inhibition of the sympathetic nervous system(fight or flight response) due to the agonist chemical properties of psilocybin and entheogens alike.

Made me bacome more aware of my surroundings, more grateful for life, family and friends.
Made nature irresistible to me.
Helped me understand the 'everything's bullshit' state of mind.
And lately been proven to help me with PTSD.

All in all... I'm in awe.

Is there anyone with a net negative outcome?  I agree with basically all of the above statements while admitting that I've only been on a few relatively light mushroom trips over the past 5 months.  In short, I'm an inexperienced tripper.

So far, it's been extremely positive - except the throwing up part.

So is it all positive?  All of the posts make it seem like it's a win win.

the only time its negative is when people do it once, freak the fuck out and swear off it their whole lives, those people just don't want to get introspective and confront their inner demons. Not saying that thats inherently a bad thing, it just is what it is
and those people probably wouldn't make accounts on this site haha

They have helped me get perspective on depression and regain a sense of depth in the everyday experience of life.

With mushrooms I seem to be able to understand my emotions much more profoundly and as a result gain huge insight into things I need to change.

The long terms effects seem to be more vividness and lightness in thought and improved clarity of the world around me. I am very grateful that I have found them  :dancer:

No downsides as of yet.

Psychedelics are a tool and every tool is only as good as the person using it
