PDX ID Request Again
    #23753536 - 10/19/16 10:45 PM (7 years, 4 months ago)

I was looking for chanterelles and came across this fungi in the PDX area. I think this is something else due to the hollow stem and spore print color.

Any help identifying would be appreciated.

Woh! That is intreging. Was there a 40-60 year old Evergreen nearby?

Chanterelles do not have gills like that at all! Familiarize yourself with what chantrelle "gills" look like. They are unique and fairly easy to recognize once you're in the know.

Also, those appear to me to be Omphalotus illudens or Omphalotus olivascens. The yellowish print, appearance, gills descending onto stipe and habitat are leading me to think that.
What were you thinking Astra?

These aren't Omphalotus, they are Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca.

There were some older evergreens that were within 30-40feet away. The closest one was across a paved street.

I thought these gills were too broad, or wide. I had been checking out chanterelle's at the local New Seasons market, but they didn't look very fresh. They did have a lobster mushroom that I thought about buying, the wild shrooms were very expensive there.

I hope to find them in the wild this year.

Oh...I've been duped by the false chantrelle! :0

Thanks, Alan!
