Fill the cap with pollyfill or w/e filter you want. Should equate close to a 4 LB bag. People reuse glad containers for agar work. I would assume this would be the same concept.
edit: Lids are a 4 :/ those would warp

Screw on lid. A seal could be made with red RTV and it is a dollar for 3. 5PP and larger than my 32 oz glass jars (quart jars)

My half Gallon jars have been cracking at the base. Not all the way through but I think it was a manufacturing flaw.
I'm just trying to use something reusable instead of a spawn bags.

Why do you not want ot use spawn bags? You can get a bigger supply of spawn from bags to distribute out.

yeah you can order 1000 for 12 cents each.
Penies add up. Major compines will complete R&D on products but cancel them due to a few cents. The rough esitamted cost per LB is 73 cents. So per 1000LB produced you are loosing 730 USD.

I've used glad before. The lids tend to warp and are not ratted as a 5pp. Not sure about zip. I want something up there in the size though too. If need be I can make a gasket for those lids from the dollar tree with RTV.

a 1000 unicorn bags is less than 300 delivered. You'll spend 10 times that in labor fabricating and washing jars. I've stopped using jars all together. I'll go from plate to 5lb grain bag and then G2G out 4 generations, repeat.

I disagree yes a jar cost more normally but can be cheaper and the big as jars are easy to clean and cheap. Unless you brake the glass they always have value. Vesides its the metal bands that get you not the bags them self. But i already have a few thound jars so im basis.

Broken jars, rusty lids, failed filter discs, lugging totes full of glass, how slippery those buggers are sprayed with Iso, the space under the ring that is hard to sterilize, and running a wash/dry operation for what would be 500+ qt jars/week for me currently.
Unicorn is selling a plastic culture vessel in several different sizes. This eliminates some of the problems but not all.
Instead I sort plastic waste by type and recycle in bulk with a specilty recycler.
Now my jars are full of pickles and salsa.
