You put poly fil into your holes and you check for beads of water till it pins then allow it to do its thing ... what are you really looking to figure out?

Dab up those pools of water with a paper towel it looks a little unhealthy but you should still get a flush or two from it are you using hpoo or coir?

Ok so I got some gts n pe's I got from a friend. Did a g2g into pint jars. After they were 100% I put 3 jars each into sma 18g monotub with horse poo. It is about 2" deep. Then sat in the closet at 77F for a week. Then 96 hours ago I put in a room to fruit. Temp is 75F. I was fanning every 4 hours then read that the pooling was bad and would go away by fanning more. So I fan for bout 20 seconds every hours or so. Do these look right? Anything to start pinning sooner or just keep what I'm doing n be patient or change what?

Fanning a mono is pointless if you want more fae open ypur top poly a little bit or tilt the lid off a little and just keep an eye on surface moisture everything else seems good are you running any lights? 12/12 light cycle with 6500 k bulb ..

Ya the glistening is what you need for sure the evaporation of water is what triggers pinning id turn that box fan off you can easily dry your shit out unless its really humid where you are then id run a small fan or atleast the box on low pointing to the opposite wall

Ok will do. Also should I keep temp where it's been at 75F of? I've read that dropping temp triggers it too

im still pretty fresh myself. Like I said I did it few times years ago, I had a SGFC and a monotub of kohs. The mono was most successful but I had help from a friend so went by his ways and couldn't remember everything. I got from point A to fruiting with only one bad jar and now I'm just being impatient lol. I know patience is key lol but I've just been sitting here for 3 days hoping I was right and everything goes good and I get a flush or 2. But since u say stop fanning. I'm just gonna stay out that room until tomorrow or so

Cold shock is an outdated idea. The tub will pin when it is ready, especially if you've already stuffed the holes with poly.

Dialing up to the top end of 75 is going to increase speed of fruiting. I do this sometimes if I'm trying get fruits faster, but never over this. Faster isn't better... Mostly I try to opt for denser fruits and fruit 65-70F

Yes, but it will slow down fruit formation, gives it more time to grow a stronger meaty fruit.

Also another question, the humidity in the room says 80% at 75F. One tub walls are wet and the myc ain't Pullin from walls yet. The other, the 2 side walls are pretty dry lil condensation at the top near lid and the myc is pulling from the walls. So my question is should I mist the dryer tub a few times a day or leave it cause it's bout to pop?

Is your substrate level? If not you could run into some problems with uneven moisture. I would try not to mist a monotub too much, they generally don't need misted at all, but if any part of your sub is too dry by all means mist it to proper surface moisture, but if your RH is 80% it shouldn't dry out too fast. Adjusting polyfil holes can help dial in the moisture and keep FAE at max.

Sounds to me like you need to dial the poly a bit tighter. Is it drying by the holes? That's one of the reasons you'll often see just 2 holes on the long sides of the tub.

Looking at those pictures, the sub looks to be hydrated well. I would leave it be and only mist of the surface has no microbeads of water.
The mycelium does look very very thick though. You might benefit from actually increasing the FAE. That surface should knot up quite well.

No they're wet up by the top holes. More so then rest. And I've stopped fanning them. I turned box fan on low and faced the opposing wall.

From what I can tell, the surface moisture looks fine. Expose it to more FAE to get a tiny bit more evaporation on the surface. As long as the surface is being kept with a fine layer of water beads on it, it should start knotting up and forming primordia. It already looks like it may be starting the process of knotting up. I would keep the temps near about 70f.

Right now temp has been at 75F for couple days. I was thinking once I start seeing pins on one of em id drop it to 70 and try to make them more dense.

It is a mono tub you might benifit from a fan in the room(not pointing directly on the tubs) more than a humidifier but both wont hurt. FAE is key.

Tape it to the wall of the tub Edit: or hot glue it to the wall instead of tape

Genius lol. I wish it had a stronger magnet. There's a magnet on back of it but it's weak as hell lol. Barely holds its own weight directly on metal

That's all completely ridiculous.
NO. No hygrometer/thermometer is really necessary in your mono. Keep it in room temperature air, it's fine. Use your eyes to monitor humidity levels. C'mon, why are we trying to overcomplicate things? You can revisit that idea when you start trying a MARTHA or something.
What happens when you have a few tubs going at once? You gonna hot glue thermometers and hygrometers to all your tubs? That's a lot of wasted expense.

figured I'd ask before I tossed it. But does myc bruise? I've seen mushies turn blueish when touched and one of my tubs has those blueish spots on it. Should I toss it?

Well see I knew the thermometer in the tub was unnecessary. but if he really wanted it seeing how he was tripping on moisture content I just explained how I would do it when I said check humidity in mono I didn't mean RH just how humid it is to the eye . I never told him to place it there he just asked how to place one so I awnsered.

condensation on tub walls is not indicative of humidity, rather a temperature difference.

Of course not I just have bad word choice I guess I meant the humidity or moisture on the substrate itself

Ok couple more questions. I have introduced my 3rd monotub into the fruiting stage and I've looked up overlay n see that it don't happen on monotubs. But the whole cake looks like this (pic below). And my next question is I misted 2 of my tubs and both turned blueish, is that bruising? One tub it went away on after a day or so. And the second one I missed and it did it so I'm questioning it?

If you adjusted polyfil you shouldn't have to mist just look for water droplets on the surface of the mycelium do a very light mist if dry (not neccesary) and adjust polyfil the blue is probably from ( a. )You touching it .( b.) Over misting Proper FAE is key

So can monos get overlay? Couple my tubs got a smooth white surface. Got 3 pins in tub but they're in 2 of the corners. What is cause of this and how can I stop it?
Edit: this is 2 of them. First one is the one that pinned bout 5 days ago. The second is the one I speak of. It pinned a couple more but nothing like the other and the other don't have a smooth surface like this one.

its very rare to get overlay and overlay is a off white/ yellowish looking thick/ heavy mycelial looking stuff. youre all good just keep conditions right and youll be fine
Did you use a liner?

No liner. So pins will eventually form on the rest of cake?

So how can I get better pinsets? My first tub went a lil crazy all over the cake. The second was only on the edge all the way around. First tub I got 2ozs dry. Second I got 3ozs dry. My 3rd tub is looking like its gonna be round the edge too. How can I make it go all over the cake??

It looks like that because it dried out so much the blue and all those metabolites ... keep it fruiting if you see mold toss it but dab up the pools with a paper towel if you can
