Why are we on this earth? I see no logical reason for existence. Yet I feel, I have the deep rooted sense that I need to do or find out something extraordinary before my existence ends, as the world slowly travels around the sun.
I have yet only seemed to find that the only reason is to reproduce. But there has to be more. There has to be. What is it?
We are on earth simply because the universe took an opportunity the only way it saw fit

so it is meaningless then, yes? There is no meaning beyond just 'because it is'. That's my take anyway, not that it isn't magnificent of course, just that it doesn't have to be taken so seriously

Technically, I'd say the purpose of consciousness is purely biological to increase fitness of the organism by allowing it to better integrate external information to escape predators, catch prey, and coordinate survival with fellow species members. All the fun and cool shit in conciousness is just a fucking accident and "purpose" and "meaning" are artificial concepts created by us. There is no inherent meaning or purpose to the universe. It just is and we just happen to be here experiencing it in a unique way.

well, yes, so then the purpose of life isn't to develop consciousness, life just is, and consciousness just is, and the universe just is. It seems like the simplest and only likely answer to me, why do people hate it so? What's wrong with meaninglessness anyway?

It also seems like you've confused basic natural instincts with intelligent consciousness.
Consciousness existed before life, life is the means of consciousness experiencing itself. You're outlook on the world effects your experience of the world. Be it positive or negative.
1. nothing grim about it 2. that's a completely unsubstantiated claim, that consciousness existed before life. No example of this has ever, or really could ever, be found so it is of the same status as scientology, unicorns and the like: fiction you chose to believe in, without any argumentative basis. You may be right, but you have no reason to believe it as far as I can see

I think life is as meaningful as you make it based on what you fill it with. That's what's beautiful about life is that you have the freedom to make what you want out of it. You should not rely on "god" or religion or whatever to tell you what meaning your life should have.

My belief is pulled from many ancient cultures, which were much more spiritually advanced than our modern society...
For an organic life form to exist and start to grow/evolve, there first had to be consciousness to inhabit/form said organic life.
why though? Why does there 'have to be'? If we need consciousness to explain life, in your wacky cosmology, what explains consciousness? Either way it all boils down to 'who knows' and more accurately perhaps 'we don't know'. Therefore from that vantage point the most logical conclusion is that we can't assign meaning to the cosmos since it is beyond our comprehension, so the only valid meaning is within our own experience, and that can surely be enough, but it ISN'T, in my mind, a meaning that can be extended beyond the self or at most the species
