The point was more to the fact that coir doesn't house the microbes considered beneficial (the reason for pasteurization).

Pasteurization is of course necessary when using any fecal matter based substrate :p

But coir, is merely the husks from coconuts, and it has never proved to be particularly hospitable in environ. for most bacterium or mold. Nor mycelium, exactly, but its water retention and  It is therefor more noob friendly. Of course, I suppose it could depend.

So, essentially, coir can be sterilized/partially sterilized with little repercussion. That's  why it's so great for city dwelling newbs. Don't hate. Appreciate.

The entire point of hot water in the verm and coir mix is to hydrate that substrate via steam and heat. The two as themselves aren't normally contamination prone. The main purpose in the bucket tek in my opinion is to hit that 160 degree sweet spot for most things myco related and hydrate the substrate. My issue wasn't in my surrounds or my rooms it was in my LC that I had made from agar. I'd run my agar through several runs, as well as using the LC for several runs. AT some point the LC got trinch, but trinch doesn't show itself in LC, sometimes it won't even be too prevalent in the grain jars, it wasn't until I spawned the tubs that it really show'd its true colors. When in doubt, start over. Seems to be working well for me so far.
