Super quick lid question
    #23751711 - 10/19/16 11:18 AM (8 years, 2 months ago)

I've been convinced by the nice forum people to do an agar build, and im stoked! So im preparing everything today (man agar is kinda hard to find, but i found it!)

a) Where can I find micropore tape? Gonna need it for my pastywhyte plate lids
b) Where can I find SFD's?

This guy's lid tek

c) I want to make those grain lids.. If I'm doing agar, I don't need the inoculation hole do I, just the 3/8 GE hole?

Most vendors here will have the supplies you are looking for.

The biggest trip of my life was realizing all of the events and actions described in posts made by this account were never real and had never actually happened, but were instead the delusional ramblings of a severely mentally ill human being. I just had to move on for my own good. I love you all.

Thanks for that! After a long hard day, I've grabbed almost everything I need, except some stuff for the monotub, but that can wait. okay so.

Here is what I bought that I found for SFD's please tell me they are good lol

And when you say drop a wedge into your jar, are you saying to just cut a piece out of the fully colonized agar plate and inoculate with that? Because, I thought one fully colonized agar plate per jar for colonizing the wbs jars?

I dunno about that filter.
I used ez-felt aka eco-fil for my grain lids. It's just ironed polyfil.
If your in a pinch, it's do able.

damn, not in a pinch, but I don't want to take them back if they are useful. but it seems I should just go buy some easy felt. Well I'm going to do up the pastey plates tonight, and ill make up the wbs jar lids tomorrow. Some people go jar>lid>SFD>ring, and some people just put a cut out over the GE and inoc holes and silicone it. which is better?

Ok, thanks.

I think my last question is..

I am going to go with easy felt, so i went to the craft store and they only had the flimsy felt squares so I didn't buy it, because I was under the impression "easy felt" was a stiff felt, can the flimsy felt be used, or do I gotta go scope out the stiff stuff from somewhere?

That's cool, I will try to get some SFD's from one of the vendors here, but for now, because I want to prepare the wbs jars now, I will be using the original metal jar lids with a GE hole. I need to know if the flimsy felt is bad and must be the stiff felt. Just saves me a 45 minute trip to a big craft store in the next town over.
