Easiest way to grow mushrooms?

I've been doing some reading on the easier ways to grow mushrooms but all the answers given are condescending answers like "No Google pf Tek" just nothing with good information. I know the best way to go is to do cakes of BRF or another substrate but I'm wondering if there is an easier way, from inoculation to harvest. I know there are plenty of shrooms for noobs guides out there but I want to know the absolute budget cutter way of growing mushrooms. Dog shit and a two liter bottle? Cool. Anyone have some ideas? Thanks

I believe you're in the wrong forum, but to answer your question, pf tek is the easiest, most forgiving technique out there.

Damion5050's coir tek rules. PF was intended for people without a PC, it works but it is lower yield and gets kind of tedious to be honest.

you can always grow invitro. inoculate normal pf tek jars and just leave to fruit in jar, introducing to light often. fruits look odd but they're shrooms, and if you only need a personal supply this a good care free method. just google invitro tek

Second damions coir tek. Hated PF tek and I actually found it more trouble than bulk espcially when considering the shitty harvest you will yield.
You need to think about
+ Grain preperation (Very important to get right. Use towel drying method and not RR's shake method as that is difficult to get right) + jar/Lid preparation (use sythetic filter discs and injection ports) + Glove box preperation + Monotub preperation (growing mushrooms entailed a surprising amount of drilling!) + Coir preperation (put it in hotwater but I like an idiot used to pasteurize it!) + Pressure cooker(big if going bulk) + Food dehydrator (a must unless u plan to eat pounds of shrooms in one sitting)
1. You need to boil grains 2. Then dry grains on outside so not sticky (use towel) 3. PC grains in jars (I used to use plastic which were kick ass) 4. Shake grains and wait to dry and cool 5. Inject grains (inside glove box) with spores through the injection ports 6. Wait for grains to colonize 7. Put a brick of coir in a bucket and add 5 quarts of water (mush it all up) 8. Throw it into your monotub 9. Break up your grains and add to the coir to monotub (when cool) mix it all up
But really dude you need to read, study, and go shopping. When you first start out it takes weeks just to get all the materials you will need together and can run about 500 english pounds.
But man I really miss it and when I think back to my growing days looking back now it was such an adventure! Definately fuck PF tek though and go bulk. Dont listen to anyone who says do PF!
If you dont suceed try again my first two tubs failed!

With pf tek 12 jars I harvest about 2 ounces more or less.
All you have to do is prep jars with the 2:1:1 ratio steam jars and shoot spores into them, wait 4-5 weeks and birth them then fruit them in a SGFC.
It's the simplest way to grow personal amounts of mushies IMHO.

Well I guess its really a matter of personal preference but I much prefer bulk because you can grow enough to last you a very very long time even if you want to trip every week. One grow and its all over rather than having to repeat the process all the time...
Fruiting is a bitch especially in shotgun chambers with cakes as they take up alot of space and need to be misted all the time whereas a mono is pretty much set and forget and you can tuck it away in a closet.
With cakes you also need too keep a big box of wet perlite in your room! Not just PF but huge coir cakes got to be a pain for me because I felt to exposed using SGC's and having everything so out in the open. Dont get me wrong I grew a shit ton in this manner (SG's are brilliant) but I'd take coir cakes over PF tek any day...
Bulk is more stealthy but even that is too much paranoia for me these days and I think if I ever grew again it would be invitro.
I think its best to do a grow and then shut down, and not keep growing all the time as it can be a big black cloud of paranoia hanging over you.
But despite all that bulk and growing a huge canopy or forrest of mushrooms is just way cooler than PF cakes. I just overall enjoyed it a ton more than PF tek which felt rather lame in comparison.

Fair points.
Personally for me I do one PF grow a year. Two ounces of mushrooms lasts me quite awhile even with dosing a few friends here and there.
I do agree the wet perlite is a PITA but it's just a hell of a lot easier.
A noon with bulk will probably fuck it up a few times before they get it together, which might end up with them trying to grow mushrooms for many many months, talk about paranoia.
Also in my experience mushrooms shelf life isn't that long. I wouldn't want harvested fruits sitting around longer than a year if I could help it, sure you could sell some but that would add to the paranoia IMO.
If you think you can jump right into bulk go for it, it will be more rewarding surely. I suppose it comes down to what you need.
Do you need over 4 ounces of shrooms a year or will 2 ounces be enough.

Growing in a monotub like Damion's coir tek can be much more low maintenance. PF is still good, but the simplicity of working with one monotub as opposed to caring for numerous small cakes is really nice. If kept in a cool, dark, dry place in a sealed container with desiccant mushrooms will maintain their potency for years. In the end it's a matter of preference though but the low maintenance and high yield make the extra care an attention required to work with rye make it well worthwhile. Soaking the grains overnight in the jars that will be used for spawning is VERY important, as mentioned in the first step of Damion's coir tek.

I skipped cakes and used popcorn for my first grain, injecting spore solution through poly holes. I had success on popcorn using syringes but as soon as I tried shooting up WBS with a syringe, bacteria ruined my attempts. Not wanting to waste another syringe, I started working with agar and have not looked back.
OP, I highly recommend doing your research and learn the entire process from top to bottom before you even make a first attempt. There are plenty of pictures on this site showing all stages of growth, with descriptions of the entire process. It is a little tricky to figure out what will work best for you and your needs but I'm sure you'll be able to find something that suits you.
One bulk run can easily yield you a dry quarter pound, if done properly. Once you have your spores, learn how to work with agar. From there you can drop clean culture from an agar dish to your grain of choice. Once you have a jar of fully colonized grains of clean spawn, the sky's the limit.
Read and learn the information so you will have it with you the rest of your life. Once you have it, it's like riding a bike. The steps are fairly simple though great care should be taken through each one to learn from your own mistakes.

popcorn seems to have bacterial contamination problems, would recommend rye or wbs for newcomers.
