So? Would you tell an artist he's not creative because "it's just paint"?
No. An artist is an artist regardless of the media they choose.
But it would take more than a tattoo for me to consider someone "creative."

no they dont do any of those things.
personally tattoos are more about knowing you have them then actually brandishing them.

They don't do any of those things, but I think people should get them if that's the way they picture themselves in their head. People owe it to themselves to make their appearances line up with their personality, and tattoos can be a part of that. I only have a little bit of ink on me but I want to get more.

I think if a person wants to ink themselves, then so be it, just think about what you're going to get before you get it so you don't make a poor choice, and make sure the artist knows what they're doing.

Personally the only reason I would want any tattoo removed, because if you ever get in trouble and they photograph your tats, then you have another identifying mark on your body that big bro can see.

Here's my opinion which I didn't add yet:
Tattoos actually DO increase confidence and makes people feel cooler, especially when the tattoos are visible in plain sight to people in public. Ive noticed this with a lot of females and some more reserved / meek type men. I'm 99% sure they feel cooler and more confident with their tattoos than they did without them.
I don't have any tattoos at all, but Ive thought about getting my entire body tattooed with a theme that is personal to me, though I'll have it done in a way that makes it invisible to people in public, because I think knowing that other people see your tattoos does change your conscience.

You'd have to be pretty insecure to gain any type of confidence from having tattoos though. I feel like people think I'm cooler for them for whatever reason, but I don't think that though.

I don't even really think about mine, but get self-consious when people ask about them and end up muttering about something unrelated. It was money spent that I didn't piss away.
I'm much more concerned with how vascular and swole I look these days.

Did gaining some size change the look of them at all? I lost like 20 pounds of muscle a while back that I'm working on getting back slowly, and mine actually look a bit better after shrinking lol.

Well said Hex. My tats are a rite of passage for me; if you know how to read them right, they're basically a roadmap of the trials, tribulations, and lessons that life has taught me, starting with my first @ 15:

It will only destroy what you are not. --Jac O'keeffe

They could do any of the things you listed, but they do not necessarily have to. I think, for the most part, tattoos only have as much of an effect as was intended by getting them in the first place, but sometimes the experience of getting one is much different than what one expected.
My two tattoos relate to experiences i've had. However, the imagery itself is not a direct translation of the experiences, but rather something that I saw in my imagination, spontaneously or in a dream, at the time of the experience. Lovely way to remind yourself of things you wish to remember.

That's pretty much exactly what tattoos signify for me, a visual manifestation of my life and the factors that made me what I am. It's also just an incredibly primal practice, using your body as a canvas. Kinda makes me feel like I carry a living link to a culture much deeper than modern western life.
I probably sound pretentious as fuck talking like this, and tattoos are certainly not the only way to connect oneself to that primacy, but that's just what it is to me.
I like your ink, btw. I definitely want to keep mine all black too. Much more aesthetically pleasing than "traditional" tattoos and the like in my eyes.

I gained 45lbs this year (fit, not fat) and my tattoos haven't warped at all.
