Music. I can play lots of songs on a guitar even very complex pieces, but I just can't wrap my head around music theory. I just don't understand it. I try and I try, but it's been years and I still don't really get it. I almost wish I'd gotten a degree in it just because not understanding bothers me so much.

Well, consider the order. I said he doubles his apples and then adds 5 yielding 13. so he added 5 to get 13, what did he have after he doubled? 13-5=8 apples. But that was after doubling so what's half of 8? 4.
X is a placeholder for a number we do not know, but which has a value.

see what i mean. suck at math. i took the numbers to work with, and worked backwards...assuming 13 was number 1...apparently, it's number 0.
see, i suck at symbolic logic. just plain kill me already.
ie, i could have had the answer already, plus avoided looking like an idiot, and asking how one could double a number to 9, when the answer was 8, and you can double 4 to reach that number.
kill me...kill me (tiny bug voice)

I don't know where you're at, but for an absolute beginner I recommend Jazzology, regardless of the genre you're studying

Jazzology
Its a good book, you can see the Contents if you preview the book
If anyone's into composing Classical music or complex polyphony in general, there's: "The Study of Counterpoint" ~ Johann Joseph Fux The same book Beethoven, Mozart and a few others studied, very good book, haven't finished it

Trusting people is what i suck at. Thank god making friends was never hard for me BUT keeping them seems to be impossible these days.
Its odd..for some reason i am more comfortable talking to strangers than my own friends.
luckily i have an awesome woman as my fiance. I need to marry her and i need a prenup. I have trust issues
