Not had any luck at all over the past month, I'm guessing it's been a bit too warm down this way. Found a these two yesterday but I'm not too sure about them, can anyone help me out with a possible Id? Thanks

I've found no liberty caps yet where I am. I've only casually been looking while out walking in the parks, but have not seen one white cap sticking up above the grass. So much for my prediction of being a perfect year for magic mushrooms here. Still it may just be starting as we've had a half decent bit of rain in the last few days, but the daytime temperature seems to have gone up a bit.
I have seen some interesting 'normal' mushrooms growing here and there, mostly growing from live and dead trees. There's been some impressive (to me) chicken of the woods, and some orangey/red velvety mushrooms growing on certain trees. There's been loads of that white bracket fungi that grows on dead silver birch trees, and a few ink caps here and there.
Looks like it's going to be a short liberty cap season this year for me. I'm not really too bothered though as now I have some spores for ones that grow indoors. I have always enjoyed the hunt though and for me it's kind of 'all part of the trip' (it usually has it's own atmospheres and a certain kind of nature magic).

Good to know that these things are to be found in the east of Ireland, where I also live.
Haven't been out hunting this year, as last year was my first year, and it proved to be totally fruitless, after about 5/6 different searches.A bit like love I keep looking in all the wrong places!
A recent magic truffles experience in the Netherlands has renewed my interest however, so hopefully I'll get out and about and hit the jackpot on home soil.
ps those photos look like the real deal.

When you see some sticking up out of the long grass, always part the grass around them and look because you often find many more smaller fresher ones.

If I ever have doubts about a mushroom, I throw it back into the grass lol. Usually I can tell if it's a liberty cap or not from a few feet away; your senses get honed through familiarity and experience (especially when you been picking them for 15+ years).
Oh and in reply to Nip's post, no those aren't magic mushrooms.

Cheers Wicca, I've heard that seeing similar mushrooms is a good sign that I'm looking in the right habitat at least.

Hey folks, I've found maybe 25 liberty caps in the west cheshire area but not enough for a decent trip, I'm thinking about making a trip up to the peak district, maybe the roaches, and another spot which a know atleast a few grow at the beginning of the season there.
Anyone up for budying up? It'll be weather dependent (if its not pissing it down), and either tomorrow or the day after.
