Trying some kava that I forgot about in my stash chest, honestly kinda not impressed. Kratom sure blows this out of the water.

Moving there, my flight is scheduled for the 29th, gonna be landing in Denver around 7-8PM mountain time
I'm just kinda winging it honestly, got a sick collection of camping & survival gear put together so I'm prepared to rough it in the woods if need be.. I want to do something really exciting with my life, been living in the same old rut for years now and I'm tired of wasting my life working a bullshit job so I just said fuck it and started making preparations several months ago
Now the time is almost here

If you can, pick up a season epic pass before the ski season starts, we can carpool to shred hella gnar gnar. You can find nice skis/boots used for cheap on craigslist.

I'm guessing you don't have a job lined up then?
There are a lot of homeless people in Denver, there are also a lot of homeless resources though also. Stay clean, stay motivated and you should be able to raise enough funds to get an apartment in a matter of weeks. You can find day labor jobs and temp agencies that will hire you on the spot, day to day work. It doesn't pay too great, but it's easy to acquire work. Check out something called Labor Ready, they have them in Denver for sure.
It's shitty work stuff, but when I was jobless for a few weeks I was able to pay all my bills and stay afloat on day labor income alone. You can take a job at 0500 in the morning and look for longer term jobs in the evening and you pretty much choose your own work schedule as well. Some of the jobs will take you in and start paying you decent wages as well. Do a lot of the construction assistance type jobs and you can get a decent job at like 15 an hour or something.
Just some ideas to keep in mind if you find yourself a bit lost. I know you're trying to get away from a bullshit job, not trying to get you into another one or anything, just sharing what had helped me in the past. Check out some other cities when you get there too. I lived in Fort Collins for a bit, awesome front range town. You'd dig it. Boulder is another front range town that's pretty cool. Estes Park, Breckenridge and Telluride are some cool Mountain towns to check out and eek a living in.
If you're trying to get away from some of your habits, avoid towns like Greeley, long stays in Denver or Colorado Springs or Pueblo. Not because these are bad areas, but because there is a lot of amp usage in these towns compared to some others that I listed. I lived in Greeley for many years, not the place to be if you have bad habits imo. I was involved in a lot of bad habits there. Again, it's not a bad town at all - but if you're looking for certain things they will find you first there if you get my drift.

I've actually never skiied or snowboarded before, would definitely looove to try it tho
Depends on how much one costs tho, I'm only gonna have so much $$ to work with once I get out there and it's going to be strictly for emergency use

Thanks a ton for the advice man, it is hella appreciated gonna be bookmarking this thread
Good to know that I can find work easily, doesn't matter if it's shitty I'll gladly do it, I'm not against working shitty jobs or anything like that but the main thing I want to do is practice the art of bushcraft, the art of living off the land
My dream is that with enough practice and years of experience I can become a bushcraft instructor and take tourists out on excursions through the bush for a fee, to me that would be the perfect job, I fucking love the great outdoors

I'll definitely be checking that out man, sounds amazing for sure
Do you know where in Denver I should go to buy UDAP Pepper Power Bear Spray? I have a can of the stuff but I can't bring it on the plane, I was gonna ship it to my buddy out there but it can only be shipped via UPS ground, and I don't believe they ship to PO boxes so getting my bear spray there is gonna be tricky
I definitely wanna have some bear spray on hand though just in case

I plan on going camping next week for my birthday. Shame it wasn't this week, we've had temps in the 80s.
If you're doing winter camping its best to have a tent and/or sleeping bag thats rated for cold temperatures. And extra blankets. Including an emergency blanket if you have one.
I went camping in a cold spell early spring last year and barely slept at night because I forgot my sleeping bag It was still nice though. There's something so nice about curling up to a camp fire in the quiet of a cold night in the mountains.

It's literally the highest state in the country, keep that in mind
And thanks a ton man, I have a lot of cold-weather gear, thermal undergarments and what not so it shouldn't be too bad, if I end up getting sick of the cold I'll just find a shitjob like Patrick said and get myself a small apartment
I've heard winter in the Colorado Front Range is actually pretty mild though in comparison to a lot of other places in the state, due in part to the Chinook winds that blow down from the Rockies, they kinda regulate the climate in that particular part of Colorado

There isn't much access to nature out here, you can sit by a canal or something, but the swamp is within walking distance so there's nowhere to hike, and you can't sit for too long due to the mosquitos.
Walking around the neighborhood can be nice if the cops don't harassle you.
Hopefully when I leave here, I'll be able to travel a bit and spend a lot of time outdoors.

Nice, I use running shoes these days, but have yet to go out during the winter and I make sure never to carry more than 30'lbs.

I believe my pack is going to weigh right around 30-40 pounds, not exactly sure, I need my scale back so I can calculate the exact weight of all my stuff
Gonna be getting a 5 pound bag of hemp seeds for the trail cuz they're hella nutritious, also a few MREs and six 400 calorie ration bars

Skip the MREs and ration bars, they're more trouble than they're worth IME. Canned chili is way more practical and cost effective.

Already got the ration bars but I'll take your word for the MREs, they're kinda pricy anyway
I'll have a pretty decent amount of money when I get out there so I'm not too worried about starvation, plus I have this bushcraft book with an entire section dedicated to edible plants that can be found in the woods
You'd be surprised how many plants humans can eat and get calories from

I just eat bread and stuff, groceries are pretty cheap
Would be more worried about proper bear-bagging, its late in the season if you wind up in bear country, they'll be foraging overtime, eating babies and all that.

Yeah that's one of my biggest concerns is the bears, thankfully there are only black bears in CO, no grizzlies but I definitely plan to have multiple cans of UDAP Bear Spray on hand at all times, the one I already got came with a pamphlet with lots of good information about bears & their behavioral habits, what to do in the event of a bear attack, etc.

I've had a lot of dreams about bear attacks
Attacks are rare though, they might get at your food

According to the pamphlet, roughly 80 percent of bear attacks happen because the person in question got too close to bear cubs, momma bears will viciously defend their young, they take no chances
The other ~20 percent are a combination of people suddenly running into and startling a bear at close range, not being submissive when a bear is acting aggressive, bears smelling food at a campsite and in extremely rare cases a bear may look at a human as prey but the truth is most bears try to avoid people like the plague

Sup people.
Doing lines of coke alone.
I walked 3 miles at 1am to get .7g for me and my roommate (I fronted him the cash) and when I got back at 2:30 he said he was gonna go to bed. I don't blame him, but it was his idea to get it in the first place (after I had decided to put it down for a while) and I went through a good amount of trouble to get it so we could do it together.
On top of that, my guy eyeballed the bag and after weighing it out, it only had .35g
Hopefully getting the rest from him tomorrow and the cash from my roommate

I woke up last week after sleeping out on a deck to a bear ten feet away from me chilling up in a tree. I have a picture of it on my cell phone somewhere. BTW bear spray does not really work that well against charging bears.

They aren't that much of a problem even to people that hike/fish/hunt here, most wild animals aren't as humans simply aren't a major food group . It's actually just the same with sharks, most people are scared shitless of swimming around sharks but they're fairly docile creatures when it comes to human interaction. Pepper spray will just piss off a bear though, handguns work but are a little excessive and unnecessary with adequate preparation.

Bear spray is really effective against people though, that shit is basically tear gas .

Yeah I figure when I'm actually out in the woods I'm gonna be blowing my whistle and making a shitload of noise at all times, yelling shit like "HELLO THERE BEARS!!!!" at the top of my lungs, I figure that way every bear in the area will hear me and book it in the opposite direction
Definitely gonna get some bear spray anyway though, just in case some poor fool(s) decides to try jumping/robbing me, he's gonna get a faceful of capsaicin and then I'm gonna book it while he's incapacitated
Don't really wanna get a gun, that's a whole lot of hassle and I don't want to be responsible for ending a life that way in any case

No need for spray, the only way to protect against a seabear attack is to make an anti-seabear circle

Maybe I could figure out how to make high-powered tranquilizer darts and just use a long thin tube to shoot them like what the native Polynesians used to do
Something that when it hits the bear's bloodstream instantly makes him/her fall asleep
Would probably have to be a pretty strong tranquilizer tho to be able to knock out a bear
But if they can do it to elephants I'm sure it would be possible to do it to bears.. I don't wanna hurt the bears, I actually like bears

Put some concentrated ketamine solution in that dart, take that bear to space

Yo if you see a bear say "woah bear"
Whistles can scare away animals and signal for help. Id suggest against using bear mace unless its a last resort brcause you can get youraelf with bear spray and be totally unable to defend yourself.
Also if you need an animal companion go for a donkey. A horse will run a fonkey will run a bear up a tree or even stomp and bite it brutally.
My dad's old boss in the yukon ad 2 donkies for bears.
There is a video on youtube of a donkey fucking up 2 lions really bad. No joke.

Hmmmm that's a good idea actually, didn't even think of that
I thought donkeys eat a fuckton of food though, dunno how I'd be able to keep one fed and happy out in the bush unless he'll just eat plants or something
