This is how Stalin and Mao would deal with drugs and political enemies. And guess what you fools? It gets the job done.

1/3 of China was addicted to opium, in came Mao and communists and solved the drug problem by killing drug users.

As harsh as it is, it works.

"...there were literally millions of addicts in [China]. The [People's Republic of China] immediately set about coping with the monumental problem. Peasants were persuaded to plough in their opium crops and sow wheat or rice instead. Neighbourhoods were mobilised in a massive educational programme. The street committees which governed the neighbourhoods held study groups in which the evils of opium and heroin were discussed. Families of known addicts were educated not to blame their addict members, but to encourage them to seek help. Addicts themselves were impressed by the fact that they were not blamed for their addiction, since they were considered victims of foreign governments and other enemies of the people. After their cure, they were given training and then placed in paying jobs. Many of them were hired by the government to work with other addicts.

At the same time, pressure was placed on the dealers. Those who surrendered were accepted by the community, re-educated, trained for meaningful work and given jobs. The rest were packed off to prison, and the worst offenders were executed. By 1956, the People's Republic of China had virtually eliminated its drug problem."

Sounds a little different to me...

I think you're missing the bit where he kills 40-70 million people through starvation, execution, etc.

It sounds different because you're posting a propaganda article that is white washing history.

In the chinese "cultural revolution" which took a millions of lives over 500,000 of the murders were opium related, thats a bare minimum of half a million people killed for opium/heroin posession or sales. And most of them were ordinary addicts. The addicts were given a chance to reform. Their first offense they were publicly shamed by the red brigades and given a second chance. If they were caught again it was the death sentence. I studied this subject in college. Its really quite horrible the scope of democide what happens under every communist regime. Perhaps the only social good that came out of it was the elimination of drug addiction in Chinese society.

It's called a sumptuary law, and is intended to keep luxuries in the hands of high status favorites of the administration.

Shame, under force, has been applied to pistachios, the color yellow, and common kitchen seasonings.
