Habitat: Where does it grow? Horse pasture, out of older piles of horse manure.
My friends in North East Texas has seen these pop up in the thousands on his property. He owns horses on over a hundred acres. I asked him to try to find some magic this year. I gave him the list of what species to look for and the next day he came across these. I was excited! The spore print had some kind of small worm on it when he lifted the shroom in the morning. I am assuming this is just a worm that was snacking on the mushroom when picked and it was already in the cap when placed for the print the night before. He didn't send me any measurements. He did look at the shroomery pan. cyn. page and said he was sure they were it. He did not look for any bruising last night or today before he left for work. I asked to check for blue bruising anywhere on the mushrooms. The 2 dozen he picked are currently on a box fan in his garage. Not sure if they will be too dry to bruise when he gets home?
Any confirmation? If there are any specific questions I can relay them to him.

They are probably Panaeolus antillarum, Pan cyanescens don't grow in New York as far as I know.

Yeah maybe, even if they aren't there's no harm in eating Panaeolus.

Pan cyans usually bruise blue pretty heavily just from collecting and handling them which should've been pretty apparent, and indeed should be visible on dried specimens.
If there's no blue bruising then they are definitely panaeolus antillarum, which is what it appears to be.
