A question of quarts and other quandaries

Hello glorious shroomerites
I've recently started my first bulk attempt and i just dont get something about the measurements, when people say spawn 5 quarts of grain to cvg, do they mean 5 quart jars (which are usually only 2\3 - 3\4 full) therefore actual 3.5 quarts or measured 5 quarts?.
I spawned my grain a week ago and used measured 5q (actually 5 litres so it's a bit more) did i go overkill?
also my mono is at about 75% colonization and i think the mycelium looks a bit bumpier than it's supposed to, is something wrong or am i just paranoid?

in case anyone wonders: selfmade print(RR's video)->MS syringe(RR's video)->rye grain spawn(RR's video, polyfill for GE)->Damion's bucket tek with added gypsum

yes, a 'myco quart' would be about 2/3-3/4 full. We just call them quarts. Your mycelium does look kinda sketchy.
Kinda hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like it's pretty bacterial to me.

They usually mean "myco-quarts" which as you said are only 2/3 or 3/4 of the actual jar.
You went straight to grains from spores which is why the myc looks odd. It's all bacterial.

yes it's for sure. yes you can fruit it. smell isn't the most reliable way to determine cleanliness of spawn.

Spores are harvested from mushrooms grown in open air. Open air is full of stuff like mold and bacteria.
Bacteria proliferates very quickly on grains and blends in with the myc.
It doesn't always smell either.

Yeah, spawn is never truly clean from MS. You can still fruit but don't expect canopies and be pleasantly surprised.

so considering i used 7.5 myco quarts of spawn and that my tub is probably hella bacterial what scale of harvest can i expect?

MS is random. Too many different genetics to say what your yield will be. The bacteria will diminish yields, but you could still get lucky and get a decent harvest.
With a good clone and bacteria free spawn you should get at least 1oz dry per quart.
Predictable yields come from agar work and much patience.

Oddly, I threw 2 small trays outside that were bacterial, harvested about a z dry from both so far. They're still fruiting and aren't green yet lol

is there a chance ill get a harvest similiar to a non bacterial 5 quart? if so then ill actually get the amount i expected before i started this thread :P also bacterial tub means i can forget about a second flush, right?

It could be, or it could not be. Not necessarily

It's really impossible to say.
I wouldn't rule out a second or even third flush unless it starts to grow mold.

Oftentimes, it's those imperfect conditions (like dirty spawn) which prevent the culture from producing as it could normally in a couple of flushes. That's how big shots do their "one and done" canopies. You'll probably see 3-4 flushes before it molds. You'll probably get somewhere around an oz. per qt. total, but it's really impossible to be sure.
All we can do is speculate.

Well ill try and be optimistic, thank you all guys maybe ill try agar, kind of hesitant about it (its possible to clone a mushy from a bacterial tub and clean i't, right?)

Definitely possible.
If I were you and if this tub fruits, I would clone the best fruit it makes.
