I wasn't talking about a baby food jar I was talking about literally drilling through glass.
And sorry to hear about that. Legalization is already here where I am and you still can't smoke at high level jobs WITH a medical card.
Trash laws. No one cares about the smokers but the people making money off the taxes :/

The fact that that's funny to you tells me this conversation is over. Have a good one friend.
I still think this is an awesome idea. The guy even said "go and buy one if it's cheap"
Okay okay I'm done I'm done

 Like mine.
But overall, alcohol lamps suck big time because of how long it takes to heat your tools red hot. My next buy is going to be a butane or propane torch FTW.

I bought a 2 pack of cans for home made candles from hobby lobby. For the wick, I used "cotton bacon" brand vape cotton. I pour some alcohol on top to wet the wick, dump the extra into the inside of the can, and add the alcohol that I will need to get the current job done. Cost $5 and works like a charm.

Make the hole small, take a good bit of cotton, roll it in your hands to turn it into a wick, and you'll have to pull it through the smaller hole. Don't allow any gaps between your cotton and hole. Don't want that flame sucking down into the can with all the alcohol. Whatever size hole you end up making, make sure you have enough cotton to the point that you have to stuff and pull it through, but not to the point that it chokes off the cotton so it can't absorb up to the top. Also, while I'm pouring it into bottom, I make sure to pour a stream of alcohol over the bottom part of the wick so I know for sure there wont be any dry spots resulting in having a burnt wick. This same wick has been in for months. I also used plenty of wick in the bottom. Doing so will allow you to simply pull out more wick from the stop so you never have to reload cotton. Hope that makes sense lol.

By the way, I've heard people say that alcohol lamps are actually better if you only wanna do cakes, because a torch can destroy a syringe real easy if you are not careful (I've seen lots of cases here where people messed up their syringes). But for agar work an alcohol lamp can be a real PITA.

Using a torch for a razor for agar is great, I could definitely see the benefits of a little alcohol lamp for syringes.

I've been using a wickless alcohol lamp without issue for 300+ plates of agar.
I may get a torch eventually because it takes a while to get the blade red hot.

Do torches create enough of an air disruption to bring in air from outside the SAB?

What? No flames ever in the box if that's what you're asking.

Always flame sterilize outside the SAB or you're just asking for issues.
I want to try one of these things eventually, even though it's completely impractical for my purposes lol: https://www.google.com/search?q=Bacti-Cinerator#q=Bacti-Cinerator&tbm=shop
