Possible Cyanescens variant?
    #23742800 - 10/16/16 02:44 PM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Hey

Stumbled upon these in the depths of a forest in Portugal. I have trolled the web for anything looking the same and found many variants but nothing exactly the same. My gut feeling is a variant of a Cyanescens (so I hope

Location. Under oak trees
Growing on. Decaying wood/leaf matter
Light cream to white gills...
smells like a shroom? not sure how to descride it but similar to most psilocybe i have smelled.

mmm. I think, despite my limited knowledge of psilocybin, that I would have to disagree. Gymnopus are inherently 'fat' caps; much larger and thicker caps whereas these are slender wavy guys. These guys start off thin and flat and then turn wavy. Just no bruising on the stem.

Good to know that they aren't Cyans. I will steer clear, thanks.

you are thinking of Gymnopilus, which these aren't. They are Gymnopus.

Right. Thank you for the heads up. I continue the hunt for psilocybes. Pretty sure I have seen some cubensis in passing. heading back there tomorrow to check it out. A week of non stop rain has caused a menagerie of fungus to bloom. kid in a candy store.
