What do you use kratom for?
    #23741923 - 10/16/16 10:00 AM (7 years, 3 months ago)

So I got kratom for the first time in a long time. Kratom has given me some nice experiences

I use to dose 2-4 grams twice daily. No side effects

I tried doing this type of dosing again. For some reason it burns me out. Makes me foggy, dry/dehydrated, and tired. Maybe my body is sensitive?

Anyways, I ended up taking .75 grams in a capsule this morning before meditation and yoga. I found this to be pretty nice. It feels like an anti-depressant to me. Feels like a cup of tea and half a pill of vicodin. I feel awake, calm and clear

I am gonna resume my normal kratom frequency. 2-3 days a week. twice a day. Except instead of my standard 2-4 gram doses I am gonna stick to 0.5-1.5 grams. I rarely took kratom to get "high". I got a buzz. Its "high" isn't even that great. As a supplement for energy, sleep and general well-being/health, I find it to be perfect

So what about you guys? I think the kratom dosage ranges are approx the following
anti-depressant/helps with meditation
like a strong coffee
buzzy. Feels like a small dose of xanax and some coffee
a sort of "high"
Foggy sleepy high
Once I get past a certain point I just feel like I took opium. Its a slightly different high. but it feels like a weak opiate
after that point, I just feel like I mixed alc and opium. Which I have never done. But its how I imagine the combo feels

So where in that range do you take kratom? And for what purpose? Anti-depressant? Energy? to wean off harder stuff? workout?

Kratom will dehydrate you, especially if you're doing a toss and wash. Need to drink extra water when you're dosing kratom.

so then more for energy?

Also; you said that kratom helped with your depression? I dosed literally 0.75 grams this morning. I physically couldn't think of a negative thought. I even tried. I thought about the most fucked up situations in my life and they just disappeared. Its almost magical lol

Ya thats assumed. One should be drinking water, at least a few cups regardless of kratom or not. But ya even with the water, I still get side effects from 2-4 grams

I am almost sure I have liver damage from all my drug use last year. I eat and sleep healthily so I hope with time it will return to normal

I take krat maybe once every couple weeks. I get high on it, sometimes I mix it with psyches. I smoke a lot of weed already and I don't need to feel like that all the time.

Well the liver is very good at regenerating itself, so it's possible. I personally probably won't ever be able to drink or take drugs like a normal person again. (which is fine, a price is to be paid for doing too much of anything and my body has told me it's had enough for one lifetime.) But careful dosing with kratom does well with me. Instead of dosing 4 grams at once I'll do 1 or 2 and then redose in an hour or 2. If I dosed more than 3.5 grams at once I would be fucked up in one way or another.

Are you still drinking or using other drugs? That will inhibit any healing your liver might do.

Sensory processing disorder mostly, and some things which come from that, like anxiety.

I have a hard time slowing my mind, which has its benefits, and pitfalls.

Quit everything except caffiene
I am tapering from heavy caffiene habit. Thats sort of why I am toying with kratom again. I am gonna stay clean this entire year. I may take some Mandy at an upcoming rave. But other than that, just kratom, and psyches. Maybe some white tea. low in caffiene

I use kratom to stop the cravings for other drugs, particularly opiates. I also use it so I don't need to take my benzos every day and avoid becoming dependent on them.

I've only been taking kratom for a short time now, but before kratom I'd be craving drugs non stop. Now I can go days entirely sober with no issues knowing I have kratom that I can take at any time to stop potential cravings.

I'm a sedative type of guy so I use Red Borneo.

That's a good solid pain management dose.

I have problems with my L3-L5 vertebrae, injured from a fall on the job, I was on oxycontin years ago, but found that stretching at night, and exercise really helped, also staying hydrated helped my discs stay hydrated.  Sucks having an injury like that at such a young age, but every now and then I get pains from it, not a lot, but sometimes.  Kratom takes those pains away.

I think kratom to be in the same class of medicinal plants like cannabis, meaning it has a number of things it can be useful for.

I hope that people on shroomery, or other drug related sites, make it shine in the proper light, and don't just ramble on about how faded they got, just puts a bad image on something so good.

Perhaps with kratom being in the limelight like it is now, we should make many posts about it's benefits, since these are logged on google or whatever, that way if someone searched kratom they see all the good it can do.

15 grams is a lot. I guess diff people diff dosages. beyond 6 grams is not even pleasant

And ya. I am surprised people even use kratom to get high. It just makes me feel nice at best. A good supplement. Thats about it

Sounds like you were just dosing too much, I have found 4g in a day is around where I start getting foggy from it.

1~g 2-3x daily is perfect though and gives me little to no negative side effects.

Ive used it since 2005 and I have mixed feelings about all the exposure it gets now. Afterall, it almost got made illegal. I liked it as a more underground thing.
One time the neighbor kid came over all strung out on amphetamines with a black eye saying he couldnt sleep and asked if I had anything that would hep so I gave him my normal dose, drank a mug myself. He took a few sips, went home, and passed out....but I stayed up for another 6-8 hours, worked on my car and went to bed around 11 pm.

The dosage I take will knock someone who doesnt have a tolerance on their ass but tolerance builds quickly.

If I took 15grms mixed with fruit juice, I might be out like a light too.

I find that capsules take longer to kick in, but the effects are different, not as strong at first, and a prolonged period of relief.  If I toss/wash, the krat kicks in quicker, is stronger but for a shorter period of time.

I am about to try to quit kratom, and instead of capsules, think that toss/wash would be the best way for me to lower my dose, then use nootropics for sleep, and to possibly manage anxiety from switching back to a lifestyle without it.

I use it like matcha tea. take a fat tablespoon, put it in very warm water, stir it up and maybe put a teaspoon of lemon juice in, then I drink all the sediment in the bottom. I love the taste. it tastes like artichoke. I feel Id miss out on the taste if I had it in capsules or mixed with fruit juice.

Damn, that sucks dude.

The only time I got a headache from kratom, was when I used a green vein type, other than that I never get headaches from it, but read if you take to much it can cause them.

Green vein kratom always makes me feel strange, I don't like it, so don't take it.

This. I just saw this post. I have been experimenting throughout the week and this is basically it

using 2-3 grams or even less is solid. I never do back to back days. And I never mix with alcohol. (i drink once a week at this point)

I think I was dosing 4 grams or something twice daily because I had a higher tolerance. I drank way more coffee and smoked way more weed in that phase of my life. I also occasionally was addicted to nicotine (dip, snus, snuff) on and off and I think I had quit amps. As a result, I was less sensitive to the ups and downs of my bodily functions etc. As a result, I think I failed to accurately find that sweet spot

At this point, even 0.5 grams gives me a kick. I like that. I think using kratom to get high is silly. this is just a nice overall supplement. If you go in or use it with the intention to "Get high" then you will inevitably have issues down the road

also; I think a few on this forum way underestimate the addiction potential for kratom. Luckily, I am using small dosages. but using up to 15-30 grams a day has some insane withdrawls. Like absolute hell for two weeks. /r/quitkratom on reddit has some insane stories. So the key here is just don't dose more than 2 days back to back, and stick to lower amounts. And wean if you have to. Better to just not get addicted than to reach a point where you need to wean

Personally I can't get high from kratom if I try.

I get an awesome antidepressant energy boost from a single tsp and if I push for a high I get nauseous and vomiting.

I do redose every few hours throughout the day though .

Because kratom is just an antidepressant for me I am switching to SAME because it's as good an antidepressant without the dependence and WD issues.

SAME can even have a good high sometimes.

I was a full blown kratom addict for years and gradually managed to cut down to the point of not facing any real WD without it and now I'm in the process of quitting it altogether.

I can't stress strongly enough to newer users- don't make the mistake I did and use kratom every day.

Doing so will ruin kratom for you and screw you over with dependence and WD.

If not used more than 3 days a week I maintain that kratom is easily one of the best drugs in existence.

Just don't do it!

Perhaps you were getting kratom which was sprayed with some sort of herbicide/pesticide?  I have heard of this before.  I have never experienced headaches/nausea from kratom when taken with water/coffee, the two times I have experienced nausea from kratom were from consuming it with green tea, so I don't know if something(l-theanine?) in the tea didn't work well with it.

If one could find a way to live in a country where kratom grew and get involved in the scene there, then you could set up an operation that the kratom you were growing was pesticide/herbicide free, you could then market it as such with a clear conscious, and make bank.

ya what fennario said was true. A lot of the lower grade kratoms are laced with opiate-type RC's right? I have noticed more shitty effects from the lower quality kratom

Also; I was surprised at how much of a difference the strain really does make

And moon: I tried SAME and it works well. I took it a few times a week. In the lower dosages its nice. But kratom is the hands down best and least side effect anti-depressant. more effective and gentle than SAME IMO. But you do you lol

Kratom is quite multi-purpose in my experience:

First and foremost, it helps manage my chronic pain.  As a teenager I was diagnosed by mayo clinic as dealing with myofascial syndrome.. the casings which hold my muscles flare and inflict widespread pain.  This suffering resulted in being assigned a steady stream of narcotics.  They were effective in masking my symptoms.

I attended the Rosomoff Pain Center and learned the importance of using ice, pt, occupational therapy, biofeedback, etc. Then the fall of the pill mills occured, and I co asidingly moved back north.  When the doctors there recieved me, they promptly cut off my diet of painkillers without so much as a taper.  I was screwed, the pain revealed itself tenfold, and I experienced withdrawal.  The heroin epidemic took me in without bias, and I cross addicted to poisoning myself the illegal way.

It took the od of my close friend and partner in crime to seek out an alternative.  Fueled by the senselessness of his death, I again traded addictions and began using kratom daily.

This allowed me to get and stay clean.. and I have the utmost of gratitude for this lesser of many evils.

This depicts the backbone of my use, it certainly helps me get through doubles at work, on my feet for 14 hours at a time.  I can recall when I was using heroin and my first friend died, that kid was essentially my younger brother and despite the sorrow, I continued to use and loathe myself deeply every time for my hypocritical yet helpless choice.

I look back and concedingly feel so sad that I couldn't save them, especially with Pawel's passing, sometimes I go and sit at his grave, eat kratom, and bawl my eyes out.  If only..

TL,DR- Kratom is currently what allows me to function and excell like a normal human being.  It is the first remedy that effectively manages my pain without a single detrimental side effect.  I used it to get clean, it allowed for a smooth transition from heavy narcotic/opiate use, and because of kratom I never looked back, not once.

Since becoming a daily user, I have consequently stopped self medicating with alcohol.. haven't had a sip of a drink since new years.. I used to consume a handle every week, straight to the face.

In addition, I have shared kratom with my mother for her panic attacks, and given it to her friend for achy joints- she happened to loose her son a couple years back (hope sheds light)..

A lot are laced ? I doubt it.  I think laced kratom is extremely rare.

SAME doesn't work taken a few times a week.  The way SAME works is through daily use. It takes at least a week of daily use to begin working and doesn't reach full Effect until around a month of daily use.

It also has to be taken properly , on an empty stomach and don't eat for 90 minutes after.  And it needs to be taken with a b vitamin complex and it needs to be enteric coated and blister packed.

Dosage also matters- I take the maximum dose of 1600 mg a day.

Point being if you took it a few times a week you never experienced it's benefits.

Kratom can't be called the antidepressant with least side effects either - it's physically addictive and causes withdrawal, as well as causing nausea and vomiting.

SAME doesn't have any side effects in the vast majority of cases and isn't addictive and has no WD which is so important.

And it has just as many benefits for the liver and the joints as it is for the mood.

Kratom was the best antidepressant for me but I need an antidepressant for every day, and I don't want to be physically addicted to anything.

Btw Moonshoe, I am about two weeks in taking Sam E, 400mgs.

PS, the notion of kratom being laced with RCs is complete and utter nonsense.  This made me lol.

I read somewhere on here that a kratom vendor was caught lacing their shit with tramadol or some opiate RC?

If I find it again, I will link it. I am not talking about the quality trusted vendors that show up on reddit.com/r/kratom. Most of the ones I have been recommended on the shroomery/from shroomery users I have had little/no side effects from. The 2 times I bought kratom from a headshop the stuff tasted "off" and one of the batches I bought def gave me more side effects than normal. Keep in mind this is back when I thought kratom from a headshop was the exact same as online vendor kratom. Not the case

it could be placebo so its hard to say. But to be clear, I am talking about this type of kratom:
http://www.lotussmoke.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/1276599_1400926213512345_1220545902_o1.jpg
http://www.ozsmoke.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Lawrenceville-IMG_6196-XL.jpg

Big flashy letters. Colorful. Poor quality labels. Really hyped. "This WILL get you fucked up bro!" type attitude all over the package

Yeah I am sure it has happened I just think it's incredibly rare to the point of being virtually non existent.

Just like people always talk about "laced weed " and of course it does happen but it's so rare it's barely worth thinking about.

If one could find a way to live in a country where kratom grew and get involved in the scene there, then you could set up an operation that the kratom you were growing was pesticide/herbicide free, you could then market it as such with a clear conscious, and make bank.

it seemed similar to various prescription opiates(I recall from various tooth operations), ever opiate type thing I've experienced kind of feels nasty to me, it might be its something sprayed on it but I also feel like shit from alcohol, I think I'm just rather fragile. A lot of things make me nauseous

The only story I know of kratom being for sure laces was some capsules that had caffeine powder in them...

"Supposedly" the vendor was requested to make them for a special order and then was never paid and they "accidentally" got mixed in with peoples orders...

People saw the light powder in the caps and investigated though and some people ended up with bags of like 5-10g caffeine powder from however many caps.

I think 5-10 caps was like 4-6 cups of coffee so its really lucky no one got hurt. Anyways it clearly happens but yeah its quite rare.

All the more reason to keep it legal and regulated. Only reason people can get away with crap like that is the ban scare...

So I am told that the tolerance to kratom goes down to nothing after a small break

lets say I was taking 1 gram a day. Over a period of time, I took 10grams to get this effect due to tolerance (obviously not realistic. but just hypothetical)

if I took a break, my tolerance would go down. But if I took a break would it go down like weed? back to 0? Or is tolerance semi-permenant? like it would take 5g's to hit that level even after a long break?

I never reached a serious point of kratom usage so I have little exp in this area. Please let me know. I always alternated days and strains

The longer of a break you take the more your tolerance will drop.

The shorter your habit the faster it will drop.

Some things like mementine should help reset tolerance.

The tolerance might never go back to zero but it should get close to zero with a long enough break.

https://psychonautwiki.org/wiki/Kratom#Tolerance_and_addiction_potential
Tolerance to many of the effects of kratom develops with prolonged and repeated use. The rate at which this occurs develops at different rates for different effects, with tolerance to the constipation-inducing effects developing particularly slowly for instance. This results in users having to administer increasingly large doses to achieve the same effects. After that, it takes about 3 - 7 days for the tolerance to be reduced to half and 1 - 2 weeks to be back at baseline (in the absence of further consumption). kratom presents cross-tolerance with all other opioids, meaning that after the consumption of kratom all opioids will have a reduced effect.

https://kratomreviews.wordpress.com/2013/04/18/kratom-tolerance/
In order to decrease your kratom tolerance, you must take a break to allow the neuro-receptors to “reset.” Over time, the receptors will return to their natural state. When the individual resumes kratom usage, the receptors will be impacted as though it’s the first use.

I found this. In regards to addiction potential/tolerance. So I guess between moon/kratom blogs theres a few mixed opinions. Its prolly gonna be different for different people. Genetic differences and such. I noticed 0 tolerance at all. But as I said, my use never got "heavy". I never really consistenly did back to back days

I don't have any reason to suspect kratom tolerance is permanent.

My point was more it will surely go down to close to zero with Time.

Opiate tolerance tends to reset quickly compared to benzos and dissociative drugs.

I only have heard of permanent tolerance with dissociative drugs .

Heroin  addicts die when they relapse after sobriety because opiate tolerance goes back down to baseline.

I wouldn't worry about permanent tolerance.

Just take a break and don't use daily.

You could call it a nootropic. It's not an RC but actually a prescription  anti alzheimers medication.  It's available clear net in Canada .

It is an extremely interesting medicine. Like Ketamine it is an NMDA antagonist dissociative.

A few of its uses- preventing and reversing opiate and stimulant tolerance, treatment of general anxiety disorder and preventing/ counteracting some of the harmful effects of serotonin syndrome.

hey so since posting this I have still been tweaking with the dosages. I still stick to below 2 grams. 0.5 to 0.75 grams and thats been working just swell. Like I said already, I see it as a supplement to well being. Not really a drug in the classic sense

Anyways, I was wondering how those with higher kratom dose habits function? In higher amounts, kratom gives me hangovers, ruins my sleep, makes me wanna puke, and just is unpleasant. With regular dosing, I notice a mild dehydration. Easily fixed by just drinking water

like this is a pretty high daily dose. I have seen people online doing 30 gram a day habits. Or 7 gram twice a day dosing

Does anyone else get side effects? does the cross tolerance to heroin/morphine/opium make the side effects of kratom lessen?

The only issues kratom had for me were nausea and vomiting if I took too much too quick and  tolerance dependence and a WD but  otherwise no side effects and I felt great all the time .

Doses of 30 grams a day plus are pretty common.

I don't recommend it though your tolerance just adjusts and you end up getting the same benefits from 10x as much leaf.

Really helps motivate me to do shit that I normally wouldn't want to.
Even though I have taken 30g a day at times there usually isn't much benefit in redosing. Nowadays I only take a second dose if I wake up in pain. It's best to take an 8gram dose on a near empty stomach around when I wake up.
Only times I've puked is when I've made it into tea. Or once I was having a really bad day and ate I dont know how much it was an extract. Overdose on Kratom is pleasant compared to many other drugs. Tremor and feeling dizzy. It feels bad for a while but once I puked it just felt like a regular dose. Prefer eating drugs cause If you overdose just start guzzling water and puke away.

I mostly use kratom now to avoid cravings for fentanyl/heroin which I was addicted to for a long time.

But I've been off those for so long now I can get really good buzzes from kratom. I find it very uplifting and when using the right amounts it can be great for both relaxation and also for an energy boost.

I do have a high tolerance to kratom and use 10-13 grams a dose and up to 40 grams a day though usually it's around 30-35.

I've been using it for about 15 months daily at this point. I definitely get withdrawals when stopping but because it is cheap and available I never go through withdrawals, I just keep using it.

I've also successfully used it on my working days when working shifts of 77 hours a week, and never ran into any problems. It's been a really great addition to my life.

Can't say everyone will have such a good experience using it but I certainly am.

It was the best thing that ever happened to me. Revolutionized my life for the better. I had a run of almost two years of walking on sunshine.

Then finally the WD and dependence issues became impossible to ignore. Being addicted was still a good life, but I just wasnt comfortable having to dose right before bed just to sleep through the night.

So now I am happy that I can enjoy kratom on work days but not need it every day.

SAMe really is helping and I find I forget to dose kratom sometimes, dont even think about it, dont need pregabalin on days off.

Taking kratom becomes almost an after  thought and my frequency of redosing naturally drops because those low mood moments that used to trigger me to dose happen less often.

So my buddy reccomended that I take black cumin seed oil daily just for general health and immunity. I thought it was silly but said fuck it and tried it. I take 2-3 teaspoons after dinner. noticed a little energy kick and increased immunity. In addition to eating a clean diet high in fruits and veggies, I take apple cider vinegar daily and this black seed oil. The only two supps I use atm

Anyways, I started taking kratom about a week after that, and noticed that my general tolerance was shit and I was generally more sensitive. Esp compared to when I last used it a year or two ago. I just assumed that due to some confounding factor I was getting better effects. I specifically thought that I was just in such a drugged out haze that period I first used kratom, that my body and mind were just used to being drugged all the time. I was digging through reddit last night and found out that black seed oil is a great potentiator. Little did I know I was mixing the two almost daily

now it could be placebo. But before you internet bastard dismiss my anecdote as placebo or nonsense
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19385474

Tons of reports all over the place that black seed oil works to decrease opiate withdrawls, kratom withdrawls, and to kick up/potentiate opiate and kratom experiences

Its literally and opiod antagonist. Which sort of explains some of its immunity, sleep and mood benefits
