Help identifying mushrooms from our garden
    #23741379 - 10/16/16 02:33 AM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Hello all,

We've had three types of mushroom spring up in our garden over the last 2 weeks. We've given them a wide birth but we've been curious as to how they come on. Our standard assumptions is that they would be unpleasant or worse to eat but we were wondering if anybody would be able to help identify what they are.

Thank you in advance. I'll now try to post some pictures! (I'm not so technical so apologies if this doesn't go according to plan!)

Thank you in advance! :-)

Simon

Coprinopsis atramentaria.

And yes, I believe them all to be the same type. Could be wrong about the last ones, though.

OK.. So I've read a bit more now and it seems that so long as I'm not having a pint with my breakfast there's no reason for me not to eat these... :-)

Am I wise to pick and eat them? The do look exactly like the Coprinopsis atramentaria as mentioned by elprawn above (thank you again!)

Thank you

Those might actually be Coprinopsis acuminata.

Maybe. I'm incapable of telling them apart.

I think C. acuminata should have a more acute cap like some of the op's photos. I'm not sure by any means.
