What do you hate about the supermarket experience?

For me it would be the cramped layout and lack of smooth navigation. The queues don't really need mentioning.

It could be worse. A woman could cut off your penis while you're sleeping and toss it out the window of a moving car.

For me it would be having to walk a mile to choose from a huge selection of bog-roll. I'd guess that wouldn't be a problem you suffer from in Latvia?

Food is so complicated as an adult. You see people in the supermarket, they're just sweating...nobody knows, "What do I eat?" The protein, the carbs, the fat content, OMG FAT CONTENT.
Just walking up to each other, "You look pretty good. What are you eating? Maybe I'll eat that."
The whole supermarket itself is designed to breakdown your sense of having any life outside the supermarket. It's like a casino - there's no clocks, no windows, no easily accessible exits.
You ever not buy anything in the supermarket and try to get out of there? It's impossible, there's no way out.
You can see what happens to people. When they're walking up to the supermarket they really have a whole sense of purpose. "I'm gonna get this, I'm gonna get that, I'm gonna pay for it, I'm gonna get out of here and get back to my normal life."
You see that same person 10 minutes later and they're just like, "What aisle is this? Why did I come up here??"
Always noticing something new..."Oh, they've got 'em in mesquite flavor now. What is mesquite? I wonder if it's made from mosquitoes."

I hate when people leave their cart in the dead center middle of the isle and walk off to go look at stuff. Meanwhile you have to move their shit just to get by.

I don't like that all the groceries are distributed throughout the store in such a way that you have to cover the whole store to get a meal.
They do this to make people see more of their products, so that more gets sold.
That obviously didnt have people lugging a 150lbs backpack around in mind.
I'm not lazy. You try it, bicycling there, shopping in a grand tour of the store and bicycling back with 150lbs strapped to you. Not very comfortable.

Above all else I fucking hate the moms with their young children crying and screaming at the top of their lungs while they act completely oblivious and take their good old time putting like $150 worth of groceries through the self-checkout while making everyone else stand by and listen to their Devil's spawn scream and cry like a broken record player
Like I mean I understand that some people have no choice, they have to bring their kid shopping with them for whatever reason but I mean come the fuck on, at least give the poor kid a damn lollipop so he'll stop raping our ears with his droning little hacksaw of a voice

I don't have anything to complain about grocery stores. Grocery stores are an enormous luxury and privilege to have access to that most people don't and I live on in an area where I have access to multiple different types of grocery stores. I have enormous selection of everything I could possibly want and more all for a cheap price.

The dead look in the staff's eyes. Then again, that's the lidl/tesco experience. When I go to someplace like marks n sparks or waitrose they look at me as if I was shit on their shoe.

I enjoy the food shopping experience.
Keep an eye on the queues and cut your losses. You probably need that geese spread that you happened to see and want.

so the solution is simple, cycle there, buy 20lbs in food which should last a few days and then cycle back home, dont buy 3 weeks worth of food at a time. 3 trips a week to the grocery store by bike would leave a person much healthier than 2 trips per month and if you learn where the items you would frequently buy are located you can simply go to those locations and grab them without grabbing all those unneeded items you get on impulse. self control also helps there.

Having more items doesn't make a case for a better country (economics aside) so ixnay on the insult lol.
That aside, abundance of choice is troubling because having less options teaches you to live with what you have. And it doesn't have to be bad either. If I remember correctly, there is a TED talk on this topic.

Every time I use a fruit or vegitable for a sex act people get all judgemental and call the police. I mean I'm not going through all the trouble of buying a cucumber, taking it home, greasing it up, inserting it in my anus, then having to go back and return it when I realize it's not big enough to satisfy me when I can easily test out the different cucumbers right there.'
So irritating. Also when I pick a line I think is the shortest then I realize the cashier is a miserable tard and it will take longer for them to scan 10 things than the next one over to process 10 customers.
Oh and when I see another person going for the same line is me it is always awkward trying to box them out, but it is satisfying have them stand behind me when they only have one pack of gum or a soda and I have a whole cart of obscure shit that will take forever to ring up.
