Are they really THIS FAST? Thank you SHROOMERY users! Aaaaaaghhh
    #23741270 - 10/16/16 01:07 AM (7 years, 3 months ago)

Okay, so a couple days I am complaining about stalling, updating my tech, and researching and getting great advice.

I mean, how could I miss it?  Can a pin REALLY go from a pin to an abort size in a couple hours?  I must be completely blind buuuuut...

I GOT BABIES!  Thank you everyone for catching an old timer up to speed on the newest info.  Holy crap these things are responsive to love.  Simply gave em what they needed and tweaked the setup and away we go!!!!

Thank you everyone for the great advice.  Not counting chickens, but I wonder what these will look like tomorrow night. :-D

Thanks.  Im operating with 20 year old info and monotub stuff.  Had MUCH updating to do.  Thank goodness the basics are still the same. Also, its surprising what one can forget when not practicing.

Yup, the tubs all just needed some regular misting.  I believe I didn't have my polyfil packed tight enough and will repair that in the morning.

So, aborts a rockin, hope they decide to grow up in a flush.  But for now I am just happy that they are so responsive.  Thanks everyone! :-D

Also, per advice, I got a big ass fluro shop light.  instead of just indirect sunlight and leaving it on.  They are singing to me. :-)

What time are you running them on? 12/12?
Have you picked the aborts?

I once had small mushrooms become almost full size mushrooms in the span of about 5-6 hours after not doing much for a couple of days. Of course I had just harvested their big brothers which might have had an impact, but still. When mushrooms decide to grow, they grow fast.

No, I have them on 24/7.  The old tech I used suggested as such.

I have a large shop shop light with two tubes, and also some old fluro grow fixtures with sunlight bulbs.

Should I drop to 12/12?  Aye yai yai... So much more to learn! :-D

Also, I have not picked the aborts because it looks like they are not aborts after all.  They appear to be on the move and growing! :-D

Don't do 24/7 man.

Please. I know it sounds right, I know cannabis goes CRAZYYYY on 24/7.
But mushrooms do TERRIBLY EVEN ON 18/6.

The best growth you're going to get is 12/12. Doesn't even have to be exact.

There are plants that live in places that have months of light, but you won't find an abundance of healthy mushroom life there. They just need the dark, in fact , look at the size they are now, turn the lights off for 12 hours, then check again.

Let me know. I'll stuff a sock in it if you can prove me wrong.

congrats! Little pins~

I'll set my light cycle noon to midnight. Many thanks. :-)

That's funny, IME weed suffers more from constant light than mushrooms. I guess it's all anecdotal in the end, but I also suppose everything needs to rest too.

I've totally left the light on a few days and it never seemed to harm anything. Not something I suggest, just sayin'. With mush, if given the choice of only lights off or on, I'd go with on.

I've never seen my plants suffer from 24 hour light. Of course there are dark periods before harvest but 24/7 up until then for sure. (at least once it's not a seedling anymore)

What kind of suffering do you mean D: ?
Compound loss or overall plant health?

That greenhouse is gorgeous.

Also, I went 12/12 per advice and just checked them.  The little guys I thought were gonna be aborts have grown.

It is astounding how these things respond.  Excited!

Some species respond differently to light cycles than others. Cubensis don't seem to really care imo, some of my best and most recent grows were with 24/7 lighting

Good to know. My lipa yai hated 24 hour light.
12/12 was was perfect.

Like liloldsays species based preference.

For me I like to compare most plants to cannabis growth (because that's how I learned about plants) this isn't the best way to do things but looking at the types of cannabis (like ruderalis) you can see how different light will help different species.

Okay, soooooo... This morning the ones that were tiny last night are indeed bigger.   That's the treasure coast.

One of the tubs is COVERED with thousands of pins, but no babies yet.  Crossing my fingers on that one, which is Malabar.

Yet another, Golden Teacher, (the tub which was dry,) is now being misted and has lost thr bruising, is covered with much new myc, and seems like its a bit slower than the others.

I'm really appreciative of the advice I get here.  Sorry I am paranoid about the phone.  I have a tablet  I'm installing Cyanogenmod today that has a moderate camera that I'll probably end up using.  I have an old phone with a better camera that I will be installing CM on, too, but its a pain in the ass.

This has been a great crash course in refreshing my tek knowledge.  It has been way too long.
