I looked in on my jars a minute ago and noticed that they kinda have a brownish tan tint to the mycelium in spots. Im thinking contams but not sure since its so early in the stage. Theyjuststarted showing myc. like 3 daysago. Any ideas if it is contams or am i just paranoid?

He said this was in his colonizing jar not a casing or anything, you should never open up the lid to jars while theyre colonizing.

I know exacly what your talking about. I had the same EXACT thing... and i was asking everyone what the fuck it was. I noticed it didn't smell... and didn't seem to 'spread' but instead show up in completly different spots not connected to the first. I told this guy about it in a chat room and he said its rotton mycilium... or dried out or old... Something like that. Well anyways i sprayed it with some h2o2 and it sorta did nothing. I cased it and currently my case is pinning... no sign of any contams. Personally i think its not a contam but just old mycilium or something like that... So far it hasn't caused any harm.

light brown/tan stains are ok... if it was contams there'd be a distinct section with no mycelium that was discolored... if you have mycelium thats discolored like this, its either grain bleeding through or the myc is pissing on itself...

Yep, I've seen that when I inoculated my BRF jars with a Karo solution that had gotten a little over cooked.
It had me worried for a bit, but the growth of the mono looked good, just not bright white. When I birthed the jars, there was no funky smell, so I let'er pinn, and everything turned out great.
