Anybody have experience with Aloe polyphylla?

Here is my lone seedling. Something like 15 days in.

Im stumped as to where to go from here. I wasnt expecting a single seed to germinate. I know germination rates are not good. 1 out of 10 is pretty bad but most sites ive read say its pretty normal.
I cant keep these out in texas. I just cant. For as nice as its been lately where can i keep this baby. I feel im gonna lose it before i see any growth.

You'll probably be fine until late spring, then the troubles will begin...

Good work buddy, you know I told you I tried my hand at growing them years back, and had great success getting them to sprout.
I just let them get to dry by putting them outdoors, and well, that was the end
I plan to try again sometime in the future because they are my favorite Aloe in the world!
Good luck with yours

Shit man,I don't know what to tell you,if it wasn't such a rare, and delicate plant,I would say to acclimate them, but I don't want you to loose them, and you know if any more sprout what you gotta do

Oh yeah man. Would be nice to have flowering plants. They are so rare and so expensive. Ive seen some on ebay go for $125 for small 4 yr old plants.

Here is an update.

There is 2 that are for sure. Now i pulled the remaning seeds and peeled away the little paper like wings it has. Then i proceeded to rub them on some sand paper trying to remove the tough outer hull. It really is pretty hard but i think i did a good job at sanding enough off. Then i just trrew them back in.
But now i put the bag on the windowsil to get some light. That little seedling is stretxhing i think. What do you guys think?

Your first post is more or less the date they germinated?
I'm curious as to what you can feed them too

Very true. I forget these serve as marks on the journey. Thanks for heads up.
Well i was reading around and you can feed them compost and leaves and all sorts of organic matter. I just made some, tea and i fed them that. Lets see what happens. Hopefully they like it.

They are looking really good, ferrel. You are doing a very decent job with a difficult (for our climates) species!

They look real nice Ferrel. Right now I have some Aloe varigata; but I have raised other varieties including dichotoma, and arborescens, which can be a medicinal variety like barbadensis. they are not easy to keep alive and are fickle about water and rotting. They also have issues about cold tolerance. I lost 2 aloe colonies last winter because my greenhouse got too cold for too long (several weeks below freezing point).
Keep us posted about the progress of the plants.

Thanks guys. It really hasnt hit the dog days of summer yet. So considering the situation, you said it perfwctly Zed, decent is absolutely spot on.
I did lose one and a friend told me that they love water just not too much. 4 of these guys were replanted and then watered. I figurw they should be good for a week or 2. I just hope i added enough perlite.
The ebay vendor gave me a grocery list of do's and dont,s. Some rules which i have broken but never the less he was very impressed. He/she almost made it seem as if did some ungodly(i dont believe in god but the word is befitting) thing. Good to know ive surpassed general expectations with this rare plant.
