do these jars look bacterial or are they good to go for g2g?

Going to give my first real shot at g2g soon. Want a second opinion on these jars. They recovered normally from a shake and the mycelium looks okay to me. Not a lot of spots of uncovered grain. The reason I want a second opinion is because of the condensation on the jars. It seems a little bit sticky, but it only ever shows up after a shake. Thoughts?

Jar #2 isn't done yet, but it's very close to it. jar#2

Seems okay. Does it smell off through the filter?
If it colonized 100 percent with no off smells you can proceed.

Can't really smell anything through the filter. I'll give it a go this week and see how they do. Excited to use my newly constructed and bigger SAB.

Hell yeah. Mine is pretty big. My first was super cramped and I hated working in. I could barely inoculate a jar with a syringe and trying to g2g was impossible. My current is pretty tall, but I wish it was wider/deeper. I'll be out of my current house in a few months and hopefully I have the space for a flowhood where I'm going. Laminar flow is divine.

When those jars fully colonize post another pic here and I'll take a look. I'm pretty good at spotting clean or dirty spawn.
At worst, you prep some grain and perform a g2g xfer that ends up failing due to bacteria. I don't know about you, but when I first started doing g2g xfers I needed all the practice I could get. Maybe you're experienced as all hell, I'm not trying to make assumptions. I personally still feel like I need all the practice I can get, my technique isn't perfect even after many many xfers.

Yes, the old SAB is a POS compared to my new one. Much more room. Probably ~100qt tub or so. I'm sure I will enjoy working in this one much more.
Here they are:

Also, some of my jars seem to have spotted stains in the glass that appears to be the same color as rust. What could stain glass like that? I can upload pictures if necessary.

Jar #1

Looks like its contaminated with bacteria
You see the mycelium strands that look thick in the first pic?
Mycelium morphs like that when bacteria/contam is present. (People mistake it for being fast rhizo mycelia)
But don't toss it, you can still fruit it for sure.

Damn, I transferred that jar into 10 other jars. Those thicker strands only showed up a few days after full colonization. About the same time those strands on the glass above the grains did. I figured it was just mycelium trying to look for more food or something. The other jar I plan to g2g doesn't have any myc strands that look like that at all though, just some that are starting to form on the glass above the grains. It was still good practice so if that jar is contaminated I'd rather have gotten my practice with the less healthy jar anyway. My new SAB is pretty dope, it just needs to be taller It gets hard to pour the grains out when I get to the bottom of the jar, but I remembered how TL did it in his video when he would keep the lid on and slide the grains over, then transfer. That way you don't have to tilt the jar vertically to get to the last grains.

Would you bother spawning these jars to bulk? They seem to be clearly bacterial to me now that they are almost fully colonized. If not, I'm assuming I could expect at least a few fruits if I tried to fruit them invitro. The second round of g2g jars seem to be going better, I'll have to wait and see how they turn out.

Got these fruits

From this spawn

Got 3 flushes out of it.
So im sure you'll be fine, having a bacterial spawn just effects the yield mostly if i remember correctly.

Thanks for posting! Those look delicious. I actually bought a few trays I was getting ready to spawn them to. Still not sure If I want to put them all in one tub or a few in trays and a few invitro. I'm fairly certain bacterial contamination makes the sub more prone to mold contamination as well.

Yep if they don't contaminate, you have a much higher chance of a shit yield. Although not always either. Some bacterial subs produce some epic 1 flush wonders too.
