I read about using no more than 5% chicken manure, but when I looked at the chicken manure I got from the store it seemed quite diluted with other debris. At first I was just unsure if he really meant 5% of 100% chicken manure (no additives), so I pushed it with various quantities of what I had in my bulk grows and not once did I see an abundant of mutations nor was there any other noticeable negative effects. So I just stuck with this ratio.
I purchased a 20kg bag of DE locally for around $20. It's purpose was to help control my gnat problem as my greenhouse was outdoors, so the gnats were becoming an issue. I've since changed my growing location, so I have no problem with gnats anymore and don't have much other uses for the DE. Read it helps retain a lot of moisture, so that's the reason I'm now using it in my bulk grows now.
