    #23737274 - 10/14/16 02:11 PM (7 years, 4 months ago)

Please help me ID these. All found on a hillside near a creek in mixed conifer and hard woods forest. Growing in soil underneath heavy leaf coverage. One was growing in wood sadly cannot remember which.

Also are any of these active?

Doing spore prints on all now! Will update.

Piedmont region in Virginia

Thanks for taking the time!!

None are active but you did amazing job of finding different mushrooms. Keep going!

Thank you. I feel like I am hunting in the right areas. Found hundreds of guessowii just too nervous to try them lol.

The gold ones with the dark nipple I swore I saw on an Actives list for Virginia. The first white one with the brownish tinged edges has a purple looking spore print and bruised almost immediately so I was surprised to hear it's not active. Oh well, back out tomorrow again.

I just hate it when people grab them all, just grab as many mushrooms as you can and take them to the shroomery, one is bound to be magic right? I suggest you buy a mushroom book, a general field guide, familiarize yourself with all the different kinds of mushrooms out there, learn everything you can about the mushrooms you want to find. This website is a great resource for that, just read and research.

Anyone can go out into the woods and collect a bunch of mushrooms, but that can be a waste of time if you don't know what you're looking at. He should study up, wouldn't have to bust his ass pointlessly

It wasn't the point you were making that was so dick-faced, but your delivery. "I just hate it when..." in the guy's own thread. Think about it. You have a problem with the way he does things, so you do something way worse?

I recommend you use https://www.shroomery.org/8461/Which-psilocybin-mushrooms-grow-wild-in-my-area to find which active mushrooms are in your area, then read up how to identify them. You may never find an active mushroom if you don't know anything about how to find and identify them. Not to mention you will have less of a chance of handling a poisonous mushroom.

In order to improve and reach your goal, you first must learn when to blame yourself before pointing the finger at others.

As much as I value people's opinion I think you should the individuals goal as well. I look for edibles to cook with not just Actives. I also have read up on the gills, the stipe the paella and the ecology and micro ecology where different mushrooms can be found. I pass up on picking 100 types of mushrooms each time I go out and I generally pick only 1 of each type unless I see them at different stages if growth. I have a photograph book that I keep for future referencing on my phone. I also spore print everything I take. I have thoroughly read this website and done a lot of reading on both David auroras writings and the biliotheca botanica.

I also take extreme CAUTION not to damage the ground or the mycelium when I remove any mushrooms.

Thanks for your feedback and support of a beginner hobbyist, not just a schmuck looking for a quick trip.

Happy hunting friend.

I see some Amanita, Cortinarius, an Agaricus and others that I cannot determine.
