Good for you! Mushrooms can be an incredible force for change, if only people listen. It sounds like your trip was needed and well received.
BTW, why is your wife unimpressed with you? You would think that she would be ecstatic with the positive change that you are trying to make.
Good luck and best wishes.

try ketamine. i successfully have been off of alcohol because of ketamine, it actually helps alcoholics.
Do not listen to sancho.
ketamine is a terrible Idea.
I am an extremely hardcore K user, and I can without a doubt tell you that using K to ween down from alcohol is one of the worst ways possible.
Just don't. It replicates the feeling to avoid the cravings, but it's not allowing your body to detox right, and when you do enough K to get K pains AND you are detoxing from booze, man you don't wanna shit the bed.

I also have a vacuum cleaner for a nose when it comes to K. I don't think I ever snort less than 150-200 mg. So Doing like 25-50 mg bumps may actually help.
I don't have a lot of experience in low dose anything.

Alcohol withdrawal can kill you. Wean down, and/or enter a medically supervised detox.

just in case anyone needs the info(first place i went too when i was freaking out was shroomery)
im doing a lot better! it was a hellish nightmare. way worse then a bad acid trip. by like a billion. i am really pissed i let myself get that bad. I came really close to calling 911 about twice. if i was insured i would have.
I smoked tons of weed. drank a big ass jug gatorade when it got bad and it helped. I also firmly believe my experience with tripping helped me out big time. i have no doubt i experienced mild DTs. i was able to ignore any kind of visual and just focused on my breathing when it got bad. it came in waves. i was even begging my wife for help but not too much she could do except say 'it will pass, hang in there'
drinking is fine. in fact i would encourage it within reason but do NOT go down that road of thinking your a rockstar and you can chug whiskey all day and use people who barely escaped death as role models.
overall it was the worse experience in my life.
back to growing shrooms. ill be in the cult forums. thanks everyone who gave input. helped a lot.

Yeah, this is really dangerous and it's hard to ween. I've had hallucinations(with cognition- not the DTs which are hallucinations without cognition) from this before. Thankfully never had a fit. But it's a genuine concern if you've been going for a decade. Librium, valium, and phenobarbital are ideal. Xanax is just really short; i've used it for this before and it can work but only briefly.

Liquor is one you taper off from, like opiates. When you get those feelings, have a drink until they're gone, and they get further apart. People have died stopping cold turkey, this is what killed Amy Winehouse.
And yes, the vitamins and hormones depleted by booze are B-vitamins, 5-HTP (Seratonin), GABA and, most importantly the amino acid Taurine, it feeds the nervous system.

Alcohol wds are a nightmare. That feeling in your body is just pure discomfort. I find when you hit the purge just pouring sweat as I call it wrap yourself in multiple blankets and warm clothes and just sweat it out.
Don't let the sweat stop its toxins just dumping out of your body. It's the worst part you will sleep maybe 30 minutes at a time. But after that is when I finally feel good enough to eat something. Still not out of the woods but it's the hump. Generally another 2 days of bleh. But your body will keep getting stronger.
I flinch at loud unexpected sounds, shake when I have to talk to people. It's so bad. I'm done drinking after this latest one. Throwing up constantly just stomach acid. I'm going to end up killing myself if I don't.
Good luck op. I just purged the past 2 days. 22 hours on a bus for the first. Not a fun experience.

I don't think you actually sweat out toxins. I think it is just because your CNS is fucked in general. Otherwise people who aren't dependent would sweat too after they drink.

Could be right that's just what I associate with it. After that I feel better. Fuck if I know. Been doing it for 5 years and after that I know I'm mostly out of the woods. Such a sticky nasty smelly sweat.
