Lab Fees? How much to charge?

Im bringing my friend into the business growing shiitakes. I don't have time to grow a 2nd species and there is the demand so im showing and letting him use my lab to get started for the first few months. He would use my bag packing table, steam sterilizer drum, and clean room to inoculate. Also use my sterilizer to make spawn and cultures. I'm also giving him access to all my customers. How much do you guys should i charge him? I'm thinking like 20%. He is a microbiologist by trade and study so training is minimal, he works in a multi million dollar cleanroom facility for a living. Were looking at doing 40 5 lb bags and shooting for 50 lbs a week for starters, hopefully dial into 80-100. We sell directly to out chefs for $8 lb so it would be like $400-600 a week.

Gouge him!
j/k
I don't think there's any standard.
What I would do is figure out how much inconvenience it is for you and base it off of that. How many resources would he be consuming (filter depreciation, fuel consumption, opportunity cost while you can't use the facility, etc) and tie in how much storage space he would be using that then wouldn't be available to you.
From that you should be able to get some idea of the cost to you for lending out these resources and can then apply an appropriate profit margin.
I would also figure out your liability. For instance, if something goes wrong with your lab (filter gets clogged, trich explosion happens, etc.) and his cultures get infected ... would you be held accountable? Would you have to pay him to cover his losses? Scary thought but worth thinking about. You might want to draw up an agreement to cover those situations and factor that into the pricing.
That's how I would approach it at least.

is your business on paper, like an LLC or something yet? if not then maybe consider having him put up some $$$ and go into a partnership.

Making him a partner in business sounds good but is a lot of legal red tape And could cost you more then you have in lawyer bullshit fees if ever sued, IRS tax leans. Best charging guide is to estimate the cost of your labs use, the equipment being destroy or wearing out or cost of replacement to it. And how much money he is costing your good name to customer contacts. Then triple that per month and that is what you charge him
