Using leftover tubs

So, this might be a dumb question, but here it goes. I have 2 small monotubs going. After fruiting, can i just mix them with more coir and do a larger batch? Is there a certain way of going about it ,if so? I was thinking just break up the tub, mix it with some more casing and let it recolonize. But I'm just not sure whether there would be any complications with that or not and i didnt know how to word it in a search query. Any advice is appreciated, Thnx!!

Doesn't sound smart...but if your using the same strain and are sure of your cleanliness I don't see why not. Between grain to grain and and the use of multiple spawn jars per tub the only problem I would see would be old/new contams

Your grains provide the energy to make fruits. Once fruits are created, the substrate loses its efficiency.. Adding your umph-less substrate to more substrate is only going to leave you with more umph-less substrate.
There's a small possibility you might get more fruit in this manner-however there is only so many nutrients in a substrate and grains. Notice we don't just use coir/verm in a grow...we use grain spawn and add it to the coir.
You can't have a bulk substrate without a spawn media such as grains, etc..
You are MUCH better off adding new clean colonized grain to a new tub and tossing the old stuff. You can however go toss your spent substrate in a cool spot outside. I've gotten a few decent sized fruits from this method...however it is not a for-sure thing.
Hope this helps.

Its not a good use of coir. Its called superspawning. I did a experiment on this five years ago. I think i got 14 dry grams off the one tub super spawning and fruiting it outside. But even one tray with one quart of grain spawn should give you more then twice as much mushrooms. One brick makes three trays of that size.

Awesome feedback thanks! Mostly i was trying to save time by not having to make/colonize new spawn bags. id like a full fruit tho so ill probably just start from scratch

Yes,
No one who wants a good yield decides to take their old tub and spawn it to new.
It just doesn't make sense. I'd actually say that it's pretty stupid...
Not trying to down you or anything....it just won't be worth your time...
Time is something that this hobby shits upon...
We all try to maximize it. Doing what you're doing is not going to maximize your time and effort.
We are ALL lazy. Lazy in the sense that we attempt to spend our time and energy on doing things that will give us the most yield per time.
Tump saying he has done 'experiments' on this is silly as it is dumb.
Any person who has spent a large amount of time on any sort of mycology will tell you that it is entirely stupid to attempt to use "spent" substrate on a "new" grow.
Just typing that made me feel sort of stupid...
You're BEST bet to increase your yields and to get yourself a lot more mushrooms is to invest in CLEAN GRAIN SPAWN. To get this, you need to use a media that allows you to see what parts of your grow are good-and what parts are bad.
The best media to do this with is an agar media that has nutrients in it.
If you look at the link in my signature-you will see a link for Pasty's Easy Agar Tek. It is the most user-friendly agar tek known to man.
You should also look at Bodhisatta's agar portal to learn what you are looking for.
If you have any questions - ask away! There are many people here willing to help.
Agar is your friend - if you want amazing yields - it's time to start isolating bacteria and bullshittery away from your grows...

Strain is irrelevant. As long as they're psilocybin cubensis, it doesn't matter what name is slapped on the syringe/print by some human.

What if it wasn't a human?

Tuhdoww is right.... A cube is pretty much-----just a cube...

I'm not trolling. If I was, you'd be melting. Time is precious. I don't waste it. Nor am I lazy. Oxymoron anyone? Or maybe efficient was the word you were looking for?

Yeah. You're right Azur. Efficient is the word I was looking for.
I really felt like this was an efficient use of my time.
I feel like other people who view our conversation-can learn from us and be more efficient.
