If going glock route I recommend changing the trigger disconnector to a 3.5# and polishing the surfaces.  For $20 and a short amount of time it's very worth it.  Tritium sights are dope, another upgrade that I'm glad I did.
Whatever you get if it be a .45, 10mm, .357sig, 9mm, etc. Practice makes perfect.

Apartments aren't inherently more or less safe than housing. Really comes down to the area you're in.

I've been burglarized before twice. Never robbed thank God.

Houses have multiple entry points and are higher risk of break in than apartments. When I lived in a house my neighbor used to watch people come and go and figure out their schedules and break in. You could break into my apartment but you would be on multiple cameras and you have less ability to judge if I am home compared to a house. And my neighbor would come out if he heard my door being kicked in. I leave it for long periods of time and don't feel uneasy at all. House you need to have mail brought in and driveway shoveled and lawn mowed or you might as well put up a sign saying you are away. Breaking into a house is easier than an apartment. I follow the crime statistics in my area and basement apartments get hit a lot, but residential apartment buildings and condos do not.
Most home invasions are targeted and even the ones in the OP's building are likely drug dealers. It doesn't usually happen randomly to joe schmoe.
Firing a gun in a high rise is pretty dangerous to all your neighbors but hey "murica.

I live in a somewhat crappy area in an apartment, and it's pretty badass actually. At first it was scary and it took a while to get used to, but now I see how safe it is. It would be impossible for someone to break into my apartment without all my neighbors raising hell, and everyone in the complex would see them doing it.

Apartments are surprisingly safe even in crappy areas if you have good neighbors. I fucking love living here. I do my own thing in my own time and no one bothers me. You can really blend in in the right apartment complex. And blending in for people like us is a beautiful thing.

This area is iffy. Down ways theres alota rich folks. There are some poorer folks around too. There have been incidents around this area. a few years back, there was a shooting at the college and gunman was caught in front of my sisters house. about a year ago, some guy killed his whole family.  I like to think of it as generally safe, but i dont feel as comfortable as i did when i lived on the west side. Prehaps its because i grew up there and this area is relatively new to me

I once saw some peeps break into an apartment in broad daylight. I didn't actually see them break in tho, I would just see them go in and out of the apartment complex with tvs and vcrs, and they seemed extremely casual about it, so much so that I didn't even suspect them of stealing shit until my friend came home and told me cuz it was his apartment.. I lived in a condo right next door to my friends apartment complex, i watched it all from my window on the second floor, I was just a kid back then tho, 9yrs old.. The cops came and questioned me and everything.. My friends mom says to me afterwards "why didn't u call the cops?.." I'm like "bitch I didn't even know they stealing shit"..
