Ideas only matter to a certain extent. Whatever show really nails its genre, and "works", will be watched. Running out of ideas is not an issue.

About time they scrapped the tv licence here in uk its such a rip off and all goes to the bbc :/
I record everything i wana watch, then i watch later and ff all the adverts
Was another new show advertised this week with Geena Davies in, exorcist :/ ill not be watching lmao!
Westworld is new and has Anthony Hopkins in, I was surprised to see him in a tv series.
Its insane how much they charge on top of all the adds, then there are all the premium channels and "renting" movies on demand for like 5-20$ for 24hrs...
Its madness! What does the TV license in the UK do? I like some of the stuff BBC does,
Recording stuff is the way to go, I need to get a set up for that. I also want to build up a solid dvd collection and get a hardrive to fill with movies and music.

Recording stuff is the way to go, I need to get a set up for that. I also want to build up a solid dvd collection and get a hardrive to fill with movies and music.
Ill tell you what it does, takes money off people and gives to the bbc lol.
If you dont pay for a tv licence you can be arrested, more likely fined, they even have a tv licence van drives around to houses with no licence and can pick signal if you got a tv on, then your screwed If you have a tv iPad or any other way to watch tv in your home, and its a rip off, doesnt go to all tv channels, it is ALL paid directly to the BBC and they have less adverts cos they get all the money.
I was reading mine to see ways around like ditch tv use ipad, nope anything that can pick up tv of any kind is now detailed in the licence, if you can watch, you need a licence.
Its a huge scam imo and its been made law in UK you have no choice, its about £145 a year atm i think. Allows you to legally watch a tv in your own home
I think one guy even got done as he had an aeriel connected, he said but iv no telly, they said well your aerial is connected so you have the 'means' to watch

My mom watches it so I try not to judge too much but she also listens to music that makes me want to fill me ears with hot glue Mostly rap/ edm...
She does listen to and watch some good stuff too at least so I am not fully ashamed the drama on shows like that just seems so petty though...

I don't know if the overall ratio of good TV shows to bad TV shows has changed, but I think the quality and entertainment value of the best TV shows from the past 5 years or so has vastly improved compared to a decade or two ago.

I think all the censoring was killing us, but now, as others have said, we've got things like Netflix where they don't have to worry about the fcc cracking down on them, and their budgets are just as big as mainstream movies and shows. It's like the filter has been lessened and now there's just a bunch of shit passing through it u know and eventually we get something good..

That is fucked up they are allowed such a monopoly. That much a year isn't that bad for TV though unless you have to pay for service on top of that...
Getting in trouble for having an antenna but no tv is data pimping to the max, its sickening companies get away with crap like that.

Burke Dennings said: I was talking about this recently; I do believe we're currently in a major upswing in the quality of TV shows. They're certainly better now than any other time in my life. Just so much amazing stuff any more. I think I thank Breaking Bad for it, but I guess it really started in the early aughts with shows like The Wire and Arrested Development. Also, Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu are doing big things. Premium channels too. Those factors are forcing cable TV to step it up.
I would say The sopranos were the main show to usher in a new age of T.V. being equal to film in all regards.
However, yes, T.V. is now equal to film as a story telling medium and shows from the early 90s just do not compare to what wehave now across all genres.
