Is the internet the "wild wild west" of its day?

What do you think? Will it be the "final frontier" too?
Considering with super computers we might one day be able to exist virtually in an infinite number of constructed realities of our choosing I say yes.

Lack of standardized laws and lack of law enforcement online makes me inclined to agree with the wild wild west aspect.

What do you think about it being the "final frontier"? We are already in space to some extent.
So unless we find a way to traverse dimensions then I can't imagine a "new" frontier ever emerging

1. Yes, definitely. 2. Depends on how you define it. If defined liberally enough, "internet" is likely the underpinning of any human progress from here out. If defined more specifically, it'll probably become a relic of its time at some point in favor of something we can't yet really comprehend.

Who made the Internet first and foremost..
We did.. We are the real technology here, we're the final product, or the final frontier.. We just don't, or can't, see it..

The internet passed it's "wild west" stage long ago and has now become somewhat more mature and sophisticated. You should have seen it the the late 1990's-early 2000's. Freaky shit happening all over the place.

You can't get shot on the internet. So, no, not IMO.

Something can happen to the body, but it will either heal or it won't. What's the big deal? Let life knock you to bits. Let life take you apart. Let life destroy you. You don't think worse things can happen to people on/via the internet than simply being shot?

'tis a very good point. The potential for psychological harm via the internet seems almost insurmountable, whilst the potential for physical harm (unless self imposed) is zero.
Still, I wouldn't liken it to the 'Wild West' - which was sparsely populated AFAIK. The internet is overly loaded with humans and their accompanying neuroses.

No, and no. Not by a long shot on either count.
