My first grow and a "thank you"

NOTE: I've been lurking for awhile, then started growing. You all have helped me get going, and had no clue. So I wanted to share my progress and say thanks. All problems I encountered were my own fault. Steps I forgot, etc. I have documented the entire process with pictures. These are the highlights and I'll add more as things develop.
---------
In mid August I inoculated 2 jars with GT from sporeworks. One went black and green:

The other colonized well:

I birthed the cake once I couldn't see vermiculite any more. Dunked it for 24 hours and built my FC. Since I only had one fully colonized cake, after dunking I decided to go for distributed surface area. I divided the cake into four parts vertically. This gave me four half cylinder shaped cakes.

They went in on 2016-10-04:

I've kept my temperatures deliberately low to decrease the risk of contamination (any decrease in risk is good, yes?). I don't mind the slow growth. Slow and steady wins the race.
Here's collage of the second day and today. The darker/sepia toned pics (night shots) are from the second day. The brighter ones are from this morning. Have a look at the center image...

... after 5.5 days in the FC we have pinsign:

So, THANK YOU everyone for your knowledge and help.

You need more holes, also get your cakes off the perlite. You're gonna have a baseball sized chunk come with the cakes when you pick them up. The myc has grown into the perlite a lot.
Also based on your pics, you need a lot more fresh air. Make a lot more symmetrical holes.

Ah, that makes sense.
See, a lot of "how-to's" tell you what to do, but don't explain the rationale behind them. I assumed the barrier between the cakes and perlite was a "less mess" type of thing lol. Initially I thought by placing them directly on the perlite that the myc would spread across the surface. I hadn't yet researched bulk grows and was uninformed.
Thanks, I'll get more airflow holes asap.

-------------------- The biggest trip of my life was realizing all of the events and actions described in posts made by this account were never real and had never actually happened, but were instead the delusional ramblings of a severely mentally ill human being. I just had to move on for my own good. I love you all.

You are correct on all things. I didn't expect to make it this far, and wasn't prepared.
I have more jars colonizing now, I staggered inoculations. I did two initially to see what to expect before I did them en masse. This was like a trial run. So yeah, it's half-assed. Don't be hatin'
