EDIT: Pics have been uploaded, a few posts down from this one
Hey, So the guide that I used was showing 1 pint size jars. This is my first time growing and I too used 1 pint jars and I used more spore solution to try to keep the proportions the same. I am about 2 weeks in and many of the jars are half colonized. two of my jars show a light pink growth which I am suspicious of so I may toss (they are currently isolated. am I screwed for using 1 pint jars? should i try to take them out now and try to fruit? should I start again? please help. thanks!

Hey, Thanks for the reply! Yeah Im not trying to hide it, Im a total noob at growing. I will post pictures later, as I am currently in class and not my apartment.
Before I knew about this site I followed amd started by using a "growing magic mushrooms video" that looks like its from the 80s on youtube. I also used a guide which I believe was from a website called shroomology or something like that.
Also, so i wouldnt have to buy a spore print or syringe, could I isolate a mycelium colony and grow on agar, then divide up the culture and put in new 1/2 pint jars?

I would shake the clean jars and give it another couple of weeks. Multi spore can be slow.

I have 3 jars that look okay. they are in a plastic container, covered by a trashbag above the fridge in a cabinet. they are shown here:
Here are the ones that I suspect are contaminated:

 a closer look:

Thanks for the advice so far. I am currently reading the link you sent!

You don't need to wear gloves to hold the jars. You can use your bare hands to hold the cakes even...
The jars shouldn't be im a cabinet they're better on shelf. And definitely not in a fucking bag...
The wrong sized jars where used.

Usually even the healthy pint jars stall out and never finish. So best of luck with those ones

Thank you for the replies. I have tossed the two contaminated ones and have moved my 3 remaining jars. I am going over the links in the guide. after these 3 either fruit or fail I will start over with 1/2 pint jars. If jars stall, am I able to birth them and try to fruit?

Yes you can try to remove the uncolonized portions then proceed with whatever cake you manage to get

Hey everyone! I have an update! I have my 3 jars fully colonized and will be doing a water dunk/verm roll. I have my fruiting chamber ready, its a fish tank with pearlite at the bottom. I will post pics of the flush when it happens!!! Thanks for all your help!

Remember the holes under the perlite are most important.

Right, I did read that in the guide... would you recommend that I do not use a glass aquarium, and instead make the shotgun tek type plastic FC? Im currently soaking my cakes (24hrs) so I guess I still have time. I was originally thinking glass aquarium because it will be hold a constant temperature better than plastic, however I cannot make the air vents...

What would I be risking by using an aquarium and mist and fan, instead of a plastic tote with holes? also what size plastic tote would you recommend for 3 pint sized cakes? im going to dry using a fan, as well a a dessicator set up similar to what I use in the labs.

Fanning is no replacement for fresh air exchange. Unless you fan 6-10 times an hour. A SGFC built. Correctly you mist 0-5 times a day its very automated.
Fan then dessication is an inferior method to using a food dehydrator. Fan then dessication is the typical noob drying route

Using an aquarium you would need to fan 6-8 times a day to get the amount of FAE you need for normal growth to happen. Its been proven time and time again its rubbish compared to a 45l/60l/80L/ SGFC. This thing looks after itself. Once you have pins basically it does all the work for you.
Ive been away for 10 days a seen very little difference than if I would of stayed at home.
Tote cost nothing, perlite costs nothing.........
