Stalled growth in WBS

Hello, i had transferred 2 half pint BRF cakes into 10 WBS pint jars. I grated them down with a cheese grater, in a still air box. Then i left them in incubation for a week. When i went to check how they came, almost none of them have taken, and the ones that have just grew a white ringaround the chunks but wont spread to the bird seed. Some bird seed was stuck to the chunks when i roled the jar around but its not covering any of it. While other jars show zero growth. There are no holes in the jars, and i followed the "perfect bird seed tek" so that should not be the issue. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I would advise not to inoculate grain that way... If you don't have success with WBS you should stick with cakes. Clean spawn is key, and agar is the key to clean spawn.

Well i have to get these brf cakes into bird seed some how, i cant fruit them in a shotgun, not enough time in my day, so i plan on making monotubs, but i need much more than i currently have. Could i grow the brf into an agar? Than use the agar for my bird seed? I have no more spores only the myceluim, so im trying to make due.

Some very intelligent member here once said " if you have time to brush your teeth twice a day, you have time to care for cakes in a sgfc"

Sgfc's don't NEED fanning throughout the day. The chamber design, if done correct, provides FAE which in turn evaporates moisture off the moist verm. You fan after your morning mist and leave. But you may not even get to that point having already grated and shown no growth.

Well i have like 15-20 more brf jars still growing about 90% done. But even still if im out of state for 3 days i cant mist it at all. Thats why im set on making monotubs. If i have to buy more spores i will i guess i was just hoping to avoid that.

I dunno man, mono's are more set and forget but still need some attention. You could spawn to a mono (again brf to grain is not the best), colonize when you get back, fruit when you get back, and harvest when you get back.
I would spawn cheese grated brf to CVG instead of a brf grain transfer if all I had was brf cakes. But brf is best suited as a cake not bulk.

Yes i can schedule so i am in town for the parts that need work, now if i cant do a flour to grain transfer, could i use the living myceluim to colonize an agar dish, and then colonize my grain and then spawn to a mono?

Yes that's possible but most just use spores->agar->clean transfer to grain

You can leave a SGFC unattended for more than 3 days anyway... I would be more worried about you hob cobbling ten different techniques together and cutting all the corners while you're at it

Well i think i will just run a bunch of experiments with what i have now then, ill fruit some in a Sgfc and take spore prints, and im gonna go ahead and make a smaller mono with CVG with maybe 10 of my jars. I also may try making an agar from the myceluim i have grown, if i have no success i will just use the spore prints later.

Cakes are best fruited as cakes in a sgfc. Cheese graitng cakes to bulk is risk a. Cakes are great for making a slightly contamed syringe fruit.
You skipped the agar cleanup step before you went to bird seed fanner.
